Join us for the ultimate soccer experience at the Nike Soccer Camp in Stillwater, hosted at Stillwater Area High School in Minnesota and led by UW–River Falls Head Coach Evan Sassano! Whether you’re just starting out or ready to take your game to the next level, this camp offers Full-Day and Half-Day options for players ages 5–14 of all skill levels.

Designed to help athletes master soccer fundamentals and build confidence, our camp delivers high-energy sessions, expert coaching, and plenty of game action. From individual skills to tactical play, your child will learn, grow, and have fun in an environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and a love for the game.

    Evan Sassano

    Camp Director

    Evan Sassano brings a proven track record of player development and program building as the inaugural Head Coach of UW–River Falls Men’s Soccer. Hired in 2023, Sassano has already established himself as a dynamic leader with years of experience at the NCAA Division I and II levels.

    Camp Director

    Before joining UW–River Falls, Sassano spent three seasons as the lead assistant coach at the University of St. Thomas, where he guided the program through its historic transition from Division III to Division I—the first ever DI men’s soccer program in Minnesota. Under his leadership, the Tommies closed their first DI season with three straight wins and followed up with shutout victories and draws against nationally ranked opponents. As the team’s lead recruiter, Sassano brought in standout talent, including multiple All-Summit League performers.

    Previously, Sassano served as head coach at Holy Names University (DII), where he led the program to its winningest season in school history. He also contributed to major milestones as an assistant at San Francisco State, helping the team earn its first playoff berth in 39 years, and at his alma mater, UC Berkeley, where he helped guide the Golden Bears to a No. 1 national ranking and an NCAA Elite Eight finish.

    A California native and 2011 graduate of UC Berkeley, Sassano was a four-year starting defender, winning two Pac-12 Championships before playing professionally in Germany, the Netherlands, and in the U.S. for the Minnesota Stars (NASL).

    Bret Day joined the UW–River Falls Men’s Soccer program as an assistant coach in 2024, bringing over a decade of experience developing elite players and building winning teams. Known for his ability to train, inspire, and elevate young athletes, Bret combines tactical expertise with a passion for player growth at every level.

    Before joining UWRF, Bret served as a volunteer assistant at Division I University of St. Thomas and spent two successful seasons as head boys’ coach at Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School, leading his team to a 21-10-4 record. In the Minnesota club scene, Bret has been a driving force for 13 years, coaching at Fusion SC, Tonka Fusion Elite (TFE), and St. Paul Blackhawks. His accomplishments include four Minnesota State Cup titles and a 2023 NPL National Championship, and he now leads three MLS Next II teams for the Blackhawks.

    As a player, Bret was a standout defender and versatile edge player at Wayzata High School and the University of St. Thomas, where he tallied nine goals and six assists over his collegiate career. Holding a USSF B License, Bret brings a wealth of knowledge, energy, and leadership to every session.

    Pheng Xiong serves as the Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach at UW–River Falls, bringing exceptional ability to train, inspire, and develop young athletes. Known for his dedication to player development and his energetic approach to the game, Pheng creates an environment where athletes can thrive both on and off the field.

You can expect high demand on these first-come-first-serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early.

CAMP INFO:

  • Camp Dates: August 3-7, 2026 (Mon-Fri)

  • Ages: 6-16

  • Gender: Coed

  • Half-Day Hours: 9am-12pm

  • Full-Day Hours: 9am-3pm

  • Meals: Lunch is NOT provided. Please bring a packed lunch and snacks
  • Location: Stillwater Area High School

*Check-in starts 15 minutes before camp start time

Nike Soccer Camps provide a fun and challenging environment where players are grouped by age and ability to maximize development. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, campers sharpen their technical skills through focused training, small-sided games, and dynamic drills—building confidence and a passion for the game along the way.

All necessary camp information is on this page. If there are any imperative changes prior to camp start, registered campers will be notified via email and this webpage will be updated!

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Training from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls coaching staff

  • Day campers: Lunch or snacks are not provided. Please bring a packed lunch. There will be a water station available to fill up and stay hydrated

  • Supervision: Staff members are strategically placed throughout the camp to provide optimal supervision and participate in all activities

  • Camp T-shirt: All campers receive a Nike Soccer Camp t-shirt

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT, & FACILITY

  • Ratio: Low camper-to-coach ratio

  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience

  • Equipment Needed: All campers must bring soccer cleats, shin guards, athletic shoes, and a water bottle.

  • Facility: Stillwater Area High School

  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital

CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO BRING:

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment, and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

SOCCER BALLS

Nike Soccer Camp Balls can be purchased during registration. Players can choose between a size 3, 4 or 5 ball, which will be shipped out before camp. Shipping is included in the listed price. Please note that it is not required to bring a soccer ball to camp as they are provided by the staff for camp instruction. All sales are final.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.
