Nike Swim Camps is excited to offer its 2nd annual camp in Salt Lake City. The camp combines elite-level stroke technique instruction with an unforgettable summer camp experience! Next Athletes, operator of the Nike Sports Camps in Salt Lake City, provides the ideal environment to learn from some of the best coaches in the country. The coaching staff is comprised of dedicated college coaches, high school coaches, and collegiate athletes who are committed to helping campers improve their stroke technique and create memories that last a lifetime. The camp is coed and open to campers ages 10-17.
OVERNIGHT CAMP
The overnight program includes instruction, training and fun games, overnight accommodations, all meals, FUN evening activities and more. Our amazing staff resides in the dorms in adjacent rooms to the campers and provides supervision throughout the camp. The camp utilizes the student housing facilities at The University of Utah and the beautiful aquatic facilities at Salt Lake City Sports Complex, just a short distance from the dormitories.
DAY CAMP (8:00AM – 5:00PM)
The Nike Swim Camp in Salt Lake City also offers a day camp program for campers who do not wish to stay overnight. This option includes instruction and daytime activities only. The schedule is modified on the first and last days of camp.
The Nike Swim Camp in Salt Lake City is open to any and all entrants and limited only by number, age and gender. Campers will be housed on campus at The University of Utah and transported by bus to Salt Lake City Sports Complex. The camp is not owned, sponsored, controlled or endorsed by The University of Utah. For your safety and benefit, we recommend you have competitive swimming experience (e.g. U.S.S. age group, national qualifiers, high school swimmers, or summer league swimmers) and can swim at least 50 meters in all four competitive strokes: fly, back, breast and freestyle.

Westy McQueen is the owner and camp director for Next Athletes, operator of Nike Sports Camps. Westy has over 10 years of experience operating youth programs and has designed the Next Athletes programs with the purpose of providing a truly memorable, athletic development experience for each child.

Swim Director Jeffrey Natalizio
Jeff Natalizio is the assistant swimming & diving coach at Whittier College. Coach Natalizio swam collegiately at University of California, Berkeley where he earned All-American status in addition to multiple Top-10 program rankings.

Head Swim Coach, Maple Mountain High School Maggie Stephens
Maggie Stephens is the head coach of Maple Mountain High School’s swim team and serves as support staff for the Nike Swim Camp in Salt Lake City. A native of Salt Lake City, Maggie coaches water polo and swim year-round and has been coaching for seven years.

Henderson Bird is the head swim coach at Weber High School and serves as a support staff member for the Nike Swim Camp in Salt Lake City.

Certified Athletic Trainer Kulsum Baig
Kulsum Baig is a certified athletic trainer and handles all athletic training needs for Next Athletes’ Nike Sports Camps. With a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State University and a Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Injury Management from the University of Kentucky, Kulsum has worked with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and clinical levels.

Camp Details
SECURE YOUR SPOT!
You can expect high demand for these first-come-first-served camper spots, so please be sure to register early. This summer, the camp at Westminster University is offering one session of overnight with a day camp (8:00am-5:00pm) option for boys and girls, ages 10-17. Upon arrival at camp, campers are placed into groups with other swimmers with similar ages and ability levels. Our camp staff will do their best to accommodate every camper’s needs, with consideration of their experience and desire to improve.

- Apparel: All campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
- Program: The Stroke Technique program is designed to provide competitive swimmers with a better understanding of swimming fundamentals. Stroke refinement along with constructive feedback will be the focus of the camp and allows each participant to gain a greater knowledge of proper stroke mechanics and ways to improve themselves individually.

Please note: Camp is closed to spectators during daytime hours. Parents are highly encouraged to attend the orientation on the first day and closing ceremony on the final day!
SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP
The overnight program includes instruction, fun games and competitions for prizes, overnight accommodation, all meals, fun evening activities, and more. The camp staff resides in the dormitories in adjacent rooms to the campers and provides supervision throughout the camp. Overnight campers are housed at The University of Utah for the duration of the camp. The camp utilizes SLC Sports Complex as its training facility.
SUMMER DAY CAMP (8:00AM – 5:00PM)
The Nike Swim Camp in Salt Lake City also offers a day camp program for campers who do not wish to stay overnight. This option includes instruction and daytime activities only. The schedule is modified on the first and last days of camp.
- Day Camper Drop-Off (Monday): 8:00-8:30am at the Dolores Doré Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center at Westminster University. – see “Summer Camp Info” section for full details about Orientation
- Day Camper Drop-Off (Tue-Thurs): 7:45-8:00am at the Dolores Doré Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center at Westminster University.
- Day Camper Pick-Up (Mon-Wed): 5:00pm at the Dolores Doré Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center at Westminster University.
- Day Camper Pick-Up/Closing Ceremony Location (Thurs): 3:30pm at the Dolores Doré Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center at Westminster University.
- Parking: Parents can use the Dumke Garage for all drop-offs and pick-ups. Parking is free.
PARENT/CAMPER SEMINARS
Both campers and parents are invited to join us from 7:30-8:30pm each night the location will be announced at check-in for evening seminars. Seminar topics will include college recruiting, expectations of a collegiate athlete, how to choose the right school, and important sports psychology topics. We also offer opportunities for Q&A with each panel of coaches.
2025 HOUSING
- Dorm: Kahlert Village at the University of Utah
- Number of Campers Per Room: 2 per room
- Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual and received no later than 14 days before the start of camp. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
- Bathrooms: Shared
- Linens: Linens: Not provided. Please bring twin XL sheets or a sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase and a towel.

SUPERVISION
The staff reside in the dormitories with the campers and participate in all activities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund. Note: Camp is closed to spectators during daytime hours. Parents are highly encouraged to attend orientation and the camp closing ceremony!

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY
- Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
- Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience per the director's discretion.
- Equipment Needed: Please bring your water swimsuit, swim cap, goggles and towel(s)
- Facility: Dolores Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center
- Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

- After overnight campers check in, parents and campers will receive their room and access cards, and store luggage at Westminster University. Overnight campers will be transported to The University of Utah in the late afternoon after the first day of training and will check in to their dormitory at that time.

- Thursday: 8:00am-4:00pm. Check-out is following the 3:30pm closing ceremony. Meals are not provided.
- The closing ceremony will take place at the Dolores Doré Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center at Westminster University. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
- Meals: Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.
Checklist of Things to Bring: We recommend that all Day Campers bring a daily pack with the following items: swimsuit, swim cap, goggles, towel, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, sandals, water bottle, dry land gear (running shoes, t-shirt, athletic shorts, sweatshirt) and any other appropriate clothing for that day’s activities which will be described to you on the first day of camp.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours, so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.
