Nike Running Tip: Best steps to get recruited

Recruiting Tip

At Nike Running Camps many of our runners frequently go on to run at the collegiate level. Running in college is a big deal and a lot of time and effort needs to happen before you make decision of where to run. We pride ourselves in saying that we work with some of the best collegiate coaches in the country. These coaches produce All Americans, NCAA championships, and even some Olympians. Here are some tips that our coaches suggest to athletes looking to compete at the college level.

  1. The most important thing is to ask yourself what YOU want, not ONLY on who wants you. Chances are that you are not going to become a professional runner, so its important to think long term about what you will be getting out of the school you choose to attend.
  2. Ask lots of questions. To make the right decision you need to be fully informed. Have a good understanding of the coach, the other runners on the team, and the school.
  3. Academics should remain a top priority. As you narrow down your choices it helps to look at the majors offered at the school, and your interest of study. Remember you are a student-athlete and the student part comes first.
