How to Benefit from your Summer Camp Experience

Southeastern Tip 1

“The best way to get recruited is to attend that coach’s camp or clinic. As a college coach, I might be able to watch you play at your game, but at camp is when I really get to know you, get to see your skills set and most importantly see how well you take instruction and how much better you get in a short period of time. This factor tells us a lot about how much more we can get out of you over a course of a year or four year career. Also, camp allows me to see you in the morning, afternoon and night, so I’m really getting a great glimpse into who you are as a person and a player and what your work ethic and attitude are over time. Camp is very beneficial for you because it allows you to see the school, meet the coaching staff and current players and see what drills they use and how they teach their softball philosophies to players. It’ll help you understand if it’s a place you can see yourself at or not. Camp is a win-win situation for everyone involved and I highly recommend going to as many 1 day and overnight camps as you can.”  -Anna Welsh, Head Softball Coach of Southeastern University (Lakeland, FL)
