Tennis Tip: The Benefit of Attending an Overnight Tennis Camp at Mt. Holyoke College
We often get asked what, if any, benefit there is in attending a RESIDENT tennis camp versus a DAY tennis camp.
Although campers can have a great experience attending a DAY camp, there is really nothing like participating in a RESIDENT or SLEEP AWAY camp. The RESIDENT camp experience is one a child will remember for many years, if not forever!
The following list is just a sampling of things we feel campers experience from the RESIDENT camp experience:
- In our RESIDENT PROGRAM, campers come from all over the United States and even the world. Campers really enjoy living with either their friends or someone they have never met. Meeting new tennis friends is always a highlight for kids. Although we always accommodate all roommate requests, encouraging interaction with all the other campers on site is a main objective for us.
- Experiencing life on a college campus is a special thing for most young people. Learning how to be responsible for one’s self in terms of following a strict schedule, selecting healthy meals, keeping good personal hygiene while learning good social skills builds self confidence and reliance. Parents often tell us how much their children change for the better following a stay at our camp.
- Learning how to be flexible and adapt to different and new environments are skills learned that will carry for a lifetime.
- Living with amazing and achieving staff members who really become role models to the campers is always a fun aspect. Staff supervise and are always available to help when needed.
In closing, there is really no experience quite like RESIDENT camp. After having directed NIKE Tennis for many years, it is really special for me that past campers are now sending their children to attend!
