TJ Gray - Camp Director

Terrence Gray will embark on his second year as Illinois Institute of Technology head men's basketball coach in 2021-22 (0-0). He assumed head coaching duties after three seasons with the Scarlet Hawks men's basketball program as an assistant coach.

Gray helped guide the Illinois Tech men’s basketball program into full NCAA Division III membership in 2018-19. The Chicago native mentored four All-NACC members, two NACC Defensive Player of the Year honorees, five All-Association of Division III Independents selections, and one D3Hoops.com All-Central Region pick throughout his tenure as assistant coach. The Scarlet Hawks accumulated a 47-34 record under Gray’s assistance, which included a trip to the 2018-19 NACC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship Game.

Gray arrived to Illinois Tech following a tour of duty at Walter Payton College Prep, where he served as assistant varsity boy’s basketball coach for two seasons. During his time at Walter Payton College Prep, Gray simultaneously held the head coaching post with Made Men AAU Basketball.

Gray jumped into the coaching ranks at NCAA Division I Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He spent four seasons with the Cougars men’s basketball program as director of operations. Film exchange, on-campus visit coordination, team travel, academic progress and camp/clinic management fell under Gray’s watch at Southern Illinois Edwardsville.

Gray’s collegiate playing career included stops at Western Illinois University (2003-2005), University of Illinois at Chicago (2005-07) and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (2007-08). He earned a spot on the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Second Team in his final season at SIUE.

Gray obtained his bachelor of arts degree in business management from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2007. He went on to earn a master of science degree in kinesiology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2010.
