Nike Cross Country Camps is excited to offer a new camp at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo this summer! Next Athletes, licensed operator of Nike Sports Camps, provides the perfect environment to learn from amazing distance and cross country coaches while making lifelong memories. During the program, campers will develop fundamentals and advanced skills, while running the scenic trail systems in the foothills of San Luis Obispo. The camp is open to runners of all ability levels, ages 10-17.
SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP (JULY 13-16)
Campers are invited to join in for our immersive overnight camp experience this summer! Participants reside in the dormitories at Cal Poly in adjacent rooms to the staff while receiving extensive coaching during the daytime hours. This camp includes accommodations, meals, coaching, fun non-running evening activities, educational seminars (including sports psychology and college recruiting), and more.
SUMMER DAY CAMP (JULY 13-16)
The Nike Cross Country Camp at Cal Poly also offers a day camp program which runs from 9:00am-4:00pm (schedule varies on first and last day). The day camp tuition includes training only and campers must bring their own lunch.

Westy McQueen is the owner and camp director for Next Athletes, operator of Nike Sports Camps. Westy has over 10 years of experience operating youth programs and has designed the Next Athletes programs with the purpose of providing a truly memorable, athletic development experience for each child.

Daniel Ozan (Coach O) is the head cross country coach at Mt. SAC and serves as a support staff member for Next Athletes and Nike Cross Country Camps.

Sean Henning took over as Biola’s Track & Field and Cross Country head coach in June 2015. He came to Biola after time at California Baptist University in Riverside, California. He attended Azusa Pacific for his undergraduate studies.

Kyle Will is the director of Bushnell University Track & Field. Coach Will serves as track & field director for Next Athletes and the Nike Track & Field Camps at Westminster University and Boise State University.

Certified Athletic Trainer Kulsum Baig
Kulsum Baig is a certified athletic trainer and handles all athletic training needs for Next Athletes’ Nike Sports Camps. With a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State University and a Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Injury Management from the University of Kentucky, Kulsum has worked with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and clinical levels.

Support Staff Joey Hughes
Joey Hughes is a former track and field athlete from University of Southern California and standout wide receiver at Long Beach Polytechnic High School and serves as a support staff member for Next Athletes and Nike Sports Camps. Coach Joey is a representative (agent) for professional track & field athletes and is also the president and CEO of Tech Coach LA, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming how kids grow and thrive through after-school programs that inspire fitness, creativity, and life skills.

- Dates: July 13-16, 2025 (Sun-Wed)
- Age Group: 10-17

- Camp Type: Day (9:00am-4:00pm), Overnight Camp Options
- Schedule: 9:00am-4:00pm, Sunday-Wednesday
- First Day Check-In: Please use the linked campus map if you have any questions.
- Overnight Campers: 11:30am-12:00pm at the Mott Athletic Center Gym.
- Day Campers: 12:00-12:30pm for day campers at the Mott Athletic Center Gym.
- Orientation (All Campers): 12:30-12:45pm
- Last Day Check-Out: Following the closing ceremony at 3:30pm on Wednesday at the Mott Athletic Center Gym.
- Meals: Meals are provided for overnight campers only. Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.
- Apparel: All campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
- Note: Following camp check-in, all overnight campers will have an opportunity to move into their room in the residence hall briefly but please come dressed in your athletic apparel for camp.

The information below is based on previous years and is subject to change each year.
Please note: Camp is closed to spectators during daytime hours. Parents are highly encouraged to attend the orientation on the first day and closing ceremony on the final day!
SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP
The overnight program includes instruction, fun games and competitions for prizes, overnight accommodation, all meals, fun evening activities, and more. The camp staff resides in the dormitories in adjacent rooms to the campers and provides supervision throughout the camp. The camp utilizes Trails around Cal Poly as its training facility.
OVERNIGHT INFORMATION
- Check-in: On the first day of camp, check-in will be between 11:30am-12:00pm
- Check-in Location: The Mott Athletic Center Gym.
- After overnight campers check in, parents and campers will receive their room and access cards and store their luggage in their assigned room.
- Campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
- Check out: Following the closing ceremony at 3:30pm at the Mott Athletic Center Gym.
- Meals: Day 1: Dinner | Days 2-3: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Day 4: Breakfast, Lunch
- Room Key Deposit: Please bring a $100 check made out to “Next Athletes, LLC”
- Closing Ceremony: The closing ceremony will take place at the Mott Athletic Center Gym. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
SUMMER DAY CAMP (9:00AM – 4:00PM)
The Nike Cross Country Camp at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo also offers a day camp program for campers who do not wish to stay overnight. This option includes instruction and daytime activities only. The schedule is modified on the first and last days of camp.
- Day Camper Drop-Off (Sunday): 12:00-12:30pm at the Mott Athletic Center Gym-see “Summer Camp Info” section for full details about Orientation
- Day Camper Drop-Off (Mon-Wed): 8:45-9:00am at the Cal Poly Track & Field.
- Day Camper Pick-Up (Sun-Tues): 4:00pm at the Cal Poly Track & Field.
- Day Camper Pick-Up/Closing Ceremony Location (Wed): 3:30pm at the Mott Athletic Center Gym.
- Parking: Parents can use the Grand Avenue Parking Structure for all drop-offs and pick-ups. Parents will need to pay at the kiosk.
SUMMER DAY CAMP HOURS & MEALS
- Sunday: 12:00-4:00pm. Meals are not provided.
- Monday-Tuesday: 9:00am-4:00pm. Meals are not provided. Day campers must pack a lunch.
- Wednesday: 9:00am-3:30pm. Check-out is following the 3:30pm closing ceremony. Meals are not provided.
- The closing ceremony will take place at the Mott Athletic Center Gym. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
- Meals: Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.
PARENT/CAMPER SEMINARS
Both campers and parents are invited to join us from 7:30-8:30pm each night at the Poly Canyon Plaza for-evening seminars. Seminar topics will include college recruiting, expectations of a collegiate athlete, how to choose the right school, and important sports psychology topics. We also offer opportunities for Q&A with each panel of coaches.
HOUSING
The information below is based on previous years and is subject to change.
- Dorm: Poly Canyon Village
- Number of Campers Per Room: 2 per room
- Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
- Bathrooms: Shared
- Linens: Not included. Bring linens (Twin XL) or a sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel.
- Air Conditioning: None. Campers are in their dorms for very limited hours during the daytime and nightly temperatures are typically mild. However, campers are welcome to bring a small fan.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
- Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions
- Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours.

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY
- Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
- Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience.
- Equipment Needed: Please bring your water, running shoes, and lunch
- Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

TEAM DISCOUNT: If five or more campers register together, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. Please have a team contact reach out directly to the USSC office at 1-800-645-3226 to receive a discount code to identify your group. Campers may then register through the website at their convenience and apply the coupon code during check-out.

My child is new to the sport, do you accept athletes who are beginners in the sport?
We bring the best out of campers of all skill levels. All we require is a positive attitude.
Does the Health & Release Form need to be signed by a doctor?
Our Health & Release Form does not require a doctor’s signature. This form is required to be filled out accurately, and completed online prior to camp arrival.
