The High Cascade Nike Running Camp combines top-notch distance running instruction with an incredible summer experience. Hosted in Bend, OR at the brand-new Oregon State University Cascades campus, this program is the perfect opportunity to train in a scenic, high-altitude environment. Each day, campers and staff run the scenic trail systems along the Deschutes River and mountain trail systems west of town.
The coaching staff is comprised of current and former college coaches and collegiate athletes who are committed to helping campers improve their results and create memories that last a lifetime. The camp is open to boys and girls, ages 10-17.
The High Cascade Nike Running Camp is open to any and all entrants and limited only by number, age and gender. The High Cascade Nike Running Camp is not owned, sponsored, co-sponsored or controlled by the University. Campers may be transported from campus to nearby athletic facilities by bus each day.

Camp Director Westy McQueen
Westy McQueen is the owner and camp director for Next Athletes, operator of the Nike Sports Camps at Boise State University and Westminster University. Westy has over 10 years of experience operating youth programs and has designed the Next Athletes programs with the purpose of providing a truly memorable, sport development experience for each child. Westy is a Positive Coaching Alliance certified coach, Level II U.S. Kids Golf Certified Coach, and specializes in a variety of sports including tennis, volleyball, soccer, golf, and football.

Cross Country Director Matthew Barreau
Matthew Barreau has over 20 years of collegiate and 7 years of high school coaching experience. Born and raised in TrackTown, USA, he has had a lifelong passion for the sports of cross country and track and field. His goal is to help foster a sense of passion and love of the sport in others, and encourage the drive and commitment for those he impacts to become better athletes and better people.

Daniel Ozan (Coach O) is the head cross country coach at Mt. SAC and serves as a support staff member for Next Athletes and Nike Cross Country Camps.

Brandon Lawrence is the assistant cross country and track & field coach at Cal Poly and serves as cross country director for Next Athletes and Nike XC Camps.

Certified Athletic Trainer Kulsum Baig
Kulsum Baig is a certified athletic trainer and handles all athletic training needs for Next Athletes’ Nike Sports Camps. With a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State University and a Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Injury Management from the University of Kentucky, Kulsum has worked with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and clinical levels.

2025 CAMP INFORMATION!

- Camp Type: Day (9:00am-4:00pm), Overnight Sessions Available!

- First Day Check-In: Please use the linked campus map if you have any questions.
- Overnight Campers: 11:30am-12:00pm at the Edward J. Ray Hall at Oregon State University, Cascades
- Day Campers: 12:00-12:30pm for day campers at the Edward J. Ray Hall at Oregon State University, Cascades
- Orientation (All Campers): 12:30-12:45pm
- Last Day Check-Out: Following the closing ceremony at 12:30pm on Thursday at the Edward J. Ray Hall at Oregon State University, Cascades
- Meals: Meals are provided for overnight campers only. Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.
- Apparel: All campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
- Note: Following camp check-in, all overnight campers will have an opportunity to move into their room in the residence hall briefly but please come dressed in your athletic apparel for camp.

Please note: Camp is closed to spectators during daytime hours. Parents are highly encouraged to attend the orientation on the first day and closing ceremony on the final day!
SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP
The overnight program includes instruction, fun games and competitions for prizes, overnight accommodation, all meals, fun evening activities, and more. The camp staff resides in the dormitories in adjacent rooms to the campers and provides supervision throughout the camp. The camp utilizes River Trails as its training facility.
OVERNIGHT INFORMATION
- Check-in: On the first day of camp, check-in will be between 11:30am-12:00pm
- Check-in Location: The Edward J. Ray Hall at Oregon State University, Cascades
- After overnight campers check in, parents and campers will receive their room and access cards and store their luggage in their assigned room.
- Campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
- Check out: Following the closing ceremony at 12:30pm at the Edward J. Ray Hall at Oregon State University, Cascades
- Meals: Day 1: Dinner | Days 2-4: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Day 5: Breakfast
- Room Key Deposit: Please bring a $50 check made out to “Next Athletes, LLC”
- Closing Ceremony: The closing ceremony will take place at the Edward J. Ray Hall. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
SUMMER DAY CAMP (9:00AM – 4:00PM)
The High Cascade Nike XC Camp at Oregon State University, Cascades, also offers a day camp program for campers who do not wish to stay overnight. This option includes instruction and daytime activities only. The schedule is modified on the first and last days of camp.

- Parking: Parents can park in the Chandler Parking Lot.
SUMMER DAY CAMP HOURS & MEALS
- Sunday: 12:00-4:00pm. Meals are not provided.
- Monday-Wednesday: 9:00am-4:00pm. Meals are not provided. Day campers must pack a lunch.
- Thursday: 9:00am-12:30pm. Check-out is following the 12:30pm closing ceremony. Meals are not provided.
- Closing Ceremony: Will take place at the Edward J. Ray Hall. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
- Meals: Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.
PARENT/CAMPER SEMINARS
Both campers and parents are invited to join us from 7:30-8:30pm each night at the Edward J. Ray Hall. for-evening seminars. Seminar topics will include college recruiting, expectations of a collegiate athlete, how to choose the right school, and important sports psychology topics. We also offer opportunities for Q&A with each panel of coaches.
HOUSING
The information below is based on previous years and is subject to change.
- Dorm: The Residence Hall at Oregon State University, Cascades
- Number of Campers Per Room: 2 per room
- Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
- Bathrooms: Shared
- Linens: Not included. Bring linens (Twin XL) or a sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel.
- Air Conditioning: None. Campers are in their dorms for very limited hours during the daytime and nightly temperatures are typically mild. However, campers are welcome to bring a small fan.

Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio
Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience.

Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.
