at Nike Softball Camps

Nike Softball Camps is excited to return to Bend, OR in 2026! Register today and enjoy elite-level training while making memories to last a lifetime. The camp offers a unique opportunity to train under the direction of dedicated coaches and current and former collegiate athletes who serve as counselors. The camp is open to athletes ages 8-17 (varies by program type).

Overnight Camp

Our overnight camp in Bend offers an immersive, on-campus experience where campers reside in the campus dormitories in adjacent rooms to the coaching staff while training during the daytime hours. The tuition includes all training, lodging, meals, fun evening activities, and more. This program is offered to boys ages 10-17.

New in 2026! Overnight campers will now stay in the dormitories at Wickiup Hall at Central Oregon Community College. COCC has a beautiful campus located on Awbrey Butte in Westside Bend which offers sweeping views of the Cascades. The campus has large, nice dorms built in 2015 and more expansive athletic facilities for training and evening activities.

Day Camp (9:00am – 4:00pm)

Nike Softball Camps also offers a day camp program for athletes who do not wish to stay overnight. The day camp program runs 9:00am-4:00pm each day and includes daytime training only. Campers can bring their own lunch or purchase on campus. The day camp program is open to boys ages 8-17.

Nike Sports Camp Experience

Nike Sports Camps offers a unique experience in Bend with many sports - Baseball, Cross Country, Golf (Coming Soon!), Soccer, Softball, Tennis, and Track & Field - operating simultaneously. During the day, the athletes receive sport-specific coaching within their sport focus. In the evening, overnight campers across all sports come together for a special camp-wide experience which includes fun field games, educational seminars, and more.

Softball Complex/Transportation Information

The camp will likely utilize the Big Sky Park Baseball Fields or Summit High School (as it has in the past) for daily training. Campers and staff are transported by bus to and from the off-campus facilities for training each day. The 2026 athletic facilities will be confirmed in the spring.

The Nike Softball Camp in Bend is open to any and all entrants and limited only by number, age and gender. Athletic facilities and coaches are subject to change. The camp is not owned, sponsored, controlled or endorsed by Central Oregon Community College.

    Shi Smith is an assistant coach at Lewis & Clark College and serves as softball director for Next Athletes and Nike Sports Camps

    Shianne Smith joined the Lewis & Clark coaching staff in the Fall of 2022 and works primarily in the bullpen with the pitchers and catchers.

    Smith played a major part in the Pioneers putting together their best season in program history in 2024. She worked with a Pioneers pitching staff comprised of three sophomores, two freshman and one senior and helped them set the single-season program record for strikeouts (225) and saves (six), while also tying the single-season shutout record with six. The Pioneers staff pitched to a 3.17 earned run average (second in program history) and sophomores Maggie O'Leary (First Team) and Charlize Pope (Second Team) each earned All-Conference honors. Lewis & Clark finished the season with the program record for wins (28) and conference wins (20) and posted their best-ever finish in the Northwest Conference standings (second place). The Pioneers went on to post their first two NWC Tournament wins in program history and advanced to the NWC Championship Series for the first time in school history.

    During the 2023 season, Smith guided a young staff of six pitchers to a 19-19 record with a team ERA of 4.59 (fifth in program history). Lewis & Clark's staff tied the program record with four saves and posted the second-most shutouts in a single-season (five) and third-most strikeouts (150). The Pioneers saw four pitchers throw 40 innings or more, with three of those pitchers being in their first collegiate season.

    Smith played collegiately at Division I Seattle University (BA) and the University of Utah (MA). At Seattle University, she competed in 111 games, while holding the school record for strikeouts per seven innings (7.45), opponent batting average (.231), and highest number of strikeouts in a game (15). While competing at the University of Utah, Smith held opponents to a 2.52 batting average with 100 strikeouts in the season in 99 innings pitched. During her career, she was named Pitcher of the Week multiple times, as well as receiving offers to play professionally around the world.

    During the offseason, Smith works as a substitute teacher in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade, while continuing to share her pitching skills through local lessons and clinics. Recently, she coached the 12U All-American team for Region 9, and 2022 18A State Champions, Strictly Softball.

    At Seattle University, Smith earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities for Teaching, including a specialization in Education Leadership and Special Education with a 3.8 GPA. While attending the University of Utah, she completed a two-year Master program in one year studying Education, Leadership, and Policy with a 4.0 GPA.

    Annie Lockwood is the head coach for Bellevue College Softball and played for the 2011 NCAA National Championship Team at Arizona State University, where she was voted to the WCWS All-Tournament Team.

    Before moving to Washington State, Lockwood was an assistant softball coach at the University of South Dakota from 2016 to 2018. She rejoined Robert Wagner, the coach who helped lead her team to a national championship at Arizona State University (ASU) in 2011. She also assisted Wagner at her alma mater as a volunteer during the 2015-2016 season at ASU. Lockwood hails from Phoenix, Ariz., and was a multi-sport letter winner at Paradise Valley High School. She committed to ASU and was a three-year starter for the Sun Devils. Lockwood competed in the NCAA tournament all four years, advanced to the Women’s College World Series three times, and was named to the WCWS All-Tournament Team when ASU won it all in 2011. Lockwood was an all-region outfielder for the Sun Devils from 2009-12 and hit 42 home runs and had 175 RBIs during her collegiate career. In addition to her on-field talents, Lockwood was named an academic All-American and an NFCA Scholar Athlete. She was also awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship. From 2013-2015 Lockwood served as head softball coach at Skyline High School in Mesa, Ariz. and was named Arizona Big Schools Coach of the Year by the Arizona Republic in her first season at the helm. That same year, she began a two-year stint as an assistant coach for Firecrackers Softball Club and Hotshots for two years. During that time, she also volunteered as a coach at Arizona State during the 2015 and 2016 seasons and has been a personal hitting instructor since 2009.

    Sam Silver is an assistant softball coach at Bushnell University and serves as a lead coach for Nike Softball Camps and Next Athletes.

    Sam Silver joins the Bushnell softball coaching staff for the 2025 season. Silver had a spectacular career as a player for the Beacons on and off the field. As a pitcher, she finished her career ranked in the top-ten all-time in nine different categories and ranks fifth all-time for wins in program history. In 2023, Silver was named the winner of the NAIA's Dr. Leroy Walker Champion of Character Award, one of the organization's highest annual honors. She was Bushnell's first recipient of any NAIA major award.

    Silver has been coaching and giving private lessons for many years and most recently served as an assistant coach at Springfield High School. She has also been a head coach for the Diamonds Fastpitch 16u and 14u teams.

    Much of Coach Silver's legacy lies in the impact she has had in the development of student-athlete mental health initiatives. This included the creation of Bushnell's student-athlete wellness program, providing a designated counselor to each athletic team, removing barriers to care and acting as a liaison between athletics and the counseling department.

    During her collegiate career, she was also named the winner of the Gardepiey-Peloquin Outstanding Speaker Award and graduated with a 3.94 GPA in Communication. She went on to earn her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is pursuing her Associate License for counseling. She continues to serve as the Student-Athlete Mental Health Coordinator for Beacon Athletics.

    Giselle (Gigi) Gonzalez is a former Division I softball player (Utah State University) and serves as a support staff member for Next Athletes and Nike Softball Camps. A San Diego native, Gigi set the all-time home runs record for Utah State and was Mountain West Softball Player of the Week her senior year.

    Kayla Neff serves as site director for Next Athletes (operators of Nike Sports Camps) and is currently an assistant coach for Biola University Softball. Kayla is the main point of contact for parents across all sports at camp.

    Kayla Neff is entering her fourth year as the assistant coach for Biola University Softball where she was a standout athlete. During her time at Biola, Kayla helped Biola Softball reach the NCAA Division II National Championship and was named to the NCAA Division II All-Tournament Team. Kayla was also acknowledged for the awards below:

    • Earned All-Pacific West First Team recognition
    • Nominated by Biola University for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award
    • Earned Biola's prestigious Dr. Dave Holmquist Career Achievement Award

    Payton Brown serves as an assistant site director for Next Athletes and Nike Sports Camps. Payton is currently a Division II baseball coach at Adams State University and is currently pursuing his Masters of Business Administration. Payton supports all sports and serves as an additional contact for camp families.

    Westy McQueen

    Camp Administrator

    Westy McQueen is the owner and camp director for Next Athletes, operator of the Nike Sports Camps at Boise State University and Westminster University. Westy has over 10 years of experience operating youth programs and has designed the Next Athletes programs with the purpose of providing a truly memorable, sport development experience for each child. Westy is a Positive Coaching Alliance certified coach, Level II U.S. Kids Golf Certified Coach, and specializes in a variety of sports including tennis, volleyball, soccer, golf, and football.

CAMP INFORMATION

  • Camp Dates: July 20-23, 2026 (Mon-Thurs)
  • Ages: 8-17 (varies by program type)
  • Gender: Girls
  • Options: Day Camp (9:00am-4:00pm) & Overnight Camp
  • First Day Check-In: Please use the campus map if you have any questions.
  • Last Day Check-Out: 4:00pm on Thursday at Wickiup Hall at COCC
  • Meals: Meals are provided for overnight campers only. Day campers are required to bring their own lunch each day.
  • Apparel: All campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.

OVERNIGHT CAMP

The overnight program includes instruction, fun games and competitions for prizes, overnight accommodation, all meals, fun evening activities, and more. The camp staff resides in the dormitories in adjacent rooms to the campers and provides supervision throughout the camp.

  • Check-in: On the first day of camp, check-in will be between 7:30-8:00am at Wickiup Hall at COCC
  • Check out: On the last day of camp, check-out is at 4:00pm at Wickiup Hall at COCC
  • Meals: Day 1: Lunch, Dinner | Days 2-3: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Day 4: Breakfast, Lunch

Housing Information: The information below is based on previous years and is subject to change.

  • Dorm: Wickiup Hall at COCC
  • Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
  • Bathrooms: Shared
  • Linens: Not included. Bring linens (Twin XL) or a sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel.
  • Air Conditioning: None. Campers are in their dorms for very limited hours during the daytime and nighttime temperatures are typically mild. However, campers are welcome to bring a small fan.
  • Room Key Deposit: $75

DAY CAMP (9:00AM – 4:00PM)

This camp offers a day camp program for campers who do not wish to stay overnight. This option includes instruction and daytime activities only.

  • Day Camper Drop-Off (Monday): 8:15-8:45am at Wickiup Hall at COCC
  • Day Camper Drop-Off (Tue-Thurs): 8:45-9:00am at Wickiup Hall at COCC
  • Day Camper Pick-Up (Every Day): 4:00pm at Wickiup Hall at COCC
  • Parking: Parents can use the Wickiup Hall Parking Lot for all drop-offs and pick-ups. Parking is free. Please use the entrance to Wickiup Hall off NW Mount Washington Drive when entering campus. Google Maps will take you in through the correct entrance by clicking any of the pins above.
  • Meals: Lunches are not provided for day campers.

PARENT/CAMPER SEMINARS

Both campers and parents are invited to join us for educational seminars on Tuesday evening. The location and schedule will be announced prior to camp. Seminar topics will include college recruiting, expectations of a collegiate athlete, how to choose the right school, and more. We also offer opportunities for Q&A with each panel of coaches.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRAVEL

Nike Sports Camps does not provide transportation from airports, train stations or bus depots. If you have a child flying to camp, please arrange a shuttle or taxi service.

TEAM/GROUP DISCOUNT

If you have a team or group of 5 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper may be eligible for a discount. To receive the group discount, please have someone email US Sports Camps at [email protected] with the following information: Camp name, list of camper names, and the number of campers. We will respond with a unique discount code for everyone in the group to use during online registration. *Note: Discount amounts vary by program, so please reach out for more details.

CANCELLATION DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

In the event a camp day is cancelled or camp hours are adjusted due to inclement weather, we will make every effort to provide make-up time. If make-up time is not possible, no refund will be issued for the first cancelled day or any shortened hours. If additional full days are cancelled and cannot be rescheduled, a pro-rated camp credit voucher will be issued for each cancelled day beyond the first.
