Jamie Tierney-Harris Named UMW Head Field Hockey Coach
Jamie Tierney-Harris has been named the new Head Field Hockey Coach at the University of Mary Washington pending approval by interim Director of Athletics, Patrick Catullo. Coach Tierney-Harris comes to UMW from James Monroe High School, in Fredericksburg, VA. Over her 14-year stent there, her team made it to 9 state tournaments, including the 2017 Virginia state championships. While there, she also served as head coach for one of the top travel clubs in the country, High Voltage.
"We look forward to having Jamie Tierney-Harris join our team as our new head field hockey coach", said Catullo. "With her high level of experience as a coach and player as well as her local ties in the community, we are excited for the future of our field hockey program."
When asked about her move to collegiate field hockey from high school, Tierney-Harris said, "I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of UMW and the field hockey program." She also noted, "The success of UMW student athletes both on the field and in the classroom reflects the competitive excellence and academic integrity valued by students and staff. I look forward to continuing this tradition of excellence and working with a talented group of young women."
Before coaching, Tierney-Harris played at Radford University and was a four-year starter. She was also a coach and player for the USA Futures program, playing internationally on the women’s national indoor team. Tierney-Harris has a level 2 coaching license from USA field Hockey.
Tierney-Harris will be taking over as director of the Nike Field Hockey Camp at University of Mary Washington for summer 2019.

Tierney-Harris will be joined by her staff of collegiate coaches this summer to bring expert instruction for girls looking to refine skills and experience life as a student athlete.
