Nike Field Hockey Camp in South Hadley adds second summer camp session
Nike Field Hockey Camps, a division of US Sports Camps, has announced the addition of a new training session to their field hockey camp in South Hadley. Instead of only offering one four-day session, the Nike Field Hockey Camp at Mount Holyoke College will now offer two four-day sessions for the upcoming 2020 summer. Both camp sessions will still be run by long-time Nike Field Hockey Camp Director and Head Coach, Andy Whitcomb.
Whitcomb just wrapped up the 2019 field hockey season after losing to Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the quarterfinals of the NEWMAC Championship Tournament. Despite ending the season in heartbreak, the Lyons’ posted multiple All-Conference honors with eight players on the All-Academic Team and two players on the Second Team All-Conference. Whitcomb has now coached roughly 59 student-athletes that have earned All-Conference honors proving herself to be an elite-level coach.
This new field hockey camp addition at Mount Holyoke College will allow players from all over Hampshire County to train in all of the major fundamental areas. As an All Skills program, campers of all abilities will receive instruction and drill work designed by Whitcomb to fit their skill level.
“We are very excited to be continuing to work with Andy,” says Siera Love, VP of Nike Field Hockey Camps. “She always brings a lot of energy and motivation to the campers, so having a second camp session was a necessity. We are confident that players will flourish even more under her instruction.”
This girls overnight camp is expected to run in June and July. Campers can experience competing on the Turf and Track Complex on campus, as well as staying in the Mount Holyoke College dorms, and eating in the dining hall. As a partner camp of USA Field Hockey, Whitcomb is also sanctioned to make referrals to the USAFH Futures program.
