GETTING TO KNOW OUR DIRECTORS.

First and Last Name: Timo Lunceford - Director of US Sports Football Camp.

Location(s) you direct: Stanislaus St. / Cal Lutheran.

How long have you been coaching football? 10 years.

How long have you been directing US Sports Football Camps?  This will be my 2nd year.

Why did you start coaching football? To help change the lives in today’s youth through sports.

Favorite Camp Drill or Activity at Camp? Scrimmage on the last day because you get to see all their hard work put to the test with amazing results.

What is the key to an incredible camp experience for you? To know that each camper leaves with more knowledge and understanding of their sport and in life.

Your perfect camper on Day #1 arrives with what qualities? Heart, discipline, passion, and the willingness to want to be taught and to learn.

Which college or pro Coach do you admire and why? Tom Coughlin NY Giants: He seems like a tough coach on the field, but his love for his player’s success “off” the field is more important to him.

Which college or pro player do you make it a point to watch play? Michigan Wolverine.

What message would you like parents to understand prior to camp? Each camper comes to camp with different talents and abilities. It is up to them to put in the effort to want to be better. We will supply them with the tools to accomplish whatever they put their hearts in, but it’s up to them to make it happen. Come with the desire to be a leader and put others first no matter how good you are because then you will always strive to want to be better and others will look to you for leadership. Don’t be a follower, be a leader!

Coaching Tip

Everyone wants to just hit, hit, hit in football and leave out the actual dynamics that can lead to you being a better overall football player. Speed, agility with quick feet, fast and powerful hands and form, make for that complete package every coach is looking for. If you can focus on those fundamentals of the game it will take your hitting to another level because when you mix in speed, power, AND form, you just went from an average player to an “IMPACT” player. So during this camp not only will you learn to hit because it’s a full contact camp, but you will also learn speed, power, and proper form and when you take that back to your team you will play with much more confidence along with safety.

Remember: “Always be the hammer, not the nail.”
