Banner Year for Cal Women’s Gymnastics Continues with the Upcoming NCAA’s
San Rafael, CA – March 31, 2016 – Nike Gymnastics Camp Director, Justin Howell, earned his second Pac-12 Gymnastics Coach of the Year award this past weekend. Over the past three years, Coach Howell has guided the California Golden Bears Gymnastics Team into national prominence in collegiate gymnastics. Despite the ever-stiff competition in the conference, Cal finished a strong third place in the Pac-12 Conference and finished with their best score in program history, a 196.725 at the Pac-12 Championship.
As the Cal Bears clinched the No. 2 seed for the Tuscaloosa Regional set for Saturday, April 2, Coach Howell remained humbled by his coaching honor. “Without the hard work, dedication and passion of our student-athletes and the wonderful coaching staff, there wouldn't be an award for me to win.”
For the third consecutive year, Coach Howell will team up with US Sports Camps to direct the Nike Women’s Gymnastics High Performance Camp at UC Berkeley this summer. Gymnasts will have the opportunity to compete and train in the Golden Bear Recreation Club as well as Haas Pavilion, home to the Cal Women’s Gymnastics Team. Gymnasts of all abilities are invited to attend, but camp is geared toward gymnasts competing in level 4 or higher.
Justin Hoeveler, Vice President at US Sports Camps, has worked with Coach Howell and Coach Crandall-Howell to develop the Nike Women’s Gymnastics High Performance Camp into a well-established, competitive camp. “It has been an honor to work with Coach Howell and promote Cal Women’s Gymnastics over the past three years. We’re excited for campers to experience this incredible learning opportunity with Coach Howell and Coach Crandall-Howell again this summer.”
Coach Howell and Coach Crandall-Howell will again be directing the Nike Women’s Gymnastics High Performance Camp in Berkeley, CA from June 24-26, July 1-4, and July 5-8.
