Cardinal claims first-ever Pac-12 Tournament title

San Rafael, CA - In the inaugural championship game, No. 2 Stanford defeated regular-season champion No. 1 Colorado to become the first-ever Pac-12 Women’s Lacrosse Tournament Champion.

"It's awesome," Bokker said. "I thought our team just played so empowered and with so much energy. They really connected out on the field and they came ready to play. I am just really proud of our team all together.

Stanford took charge of the first half, leading 7-2 going into halftime. The Cardinal topped Colorado in shots with 21 and saves with six compared to CU’s 18 and five, respectively. The Buffs were still leading in draw controls with six.

The Cardinal came out strong in the second half scoring three more goals within the first two minutes, bringing the score to 10-2. Stanford continued to dominate offensively, scoring a total of eight goals in the second half. Despite the Buffs effort to diminish the scoring gap, the Cardinal ended victorious, winning 15-6.

"They were inspired," Bokker continued. "This was a goal of ours all season. I think they were really focused and our defense was amazing. They just play so disciplined. I can't say enough about their play and our GK coming up huge with all those saves. It really all just came together."

With the win, the Cardinal receives the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
