Nike Rugby Camps celebrates 10 years of summer programs in San Diego, CA

Nike Rugby Camps return to University of San Diego in 2018 and welcome players for another great week of high-level training. Operating every summer for over a decade, Nike Rugby Camps in San Diego are proud to be Southern California’s longest-running rugby camp. Players, ages 9-17, attend from across the globe to improve their game with some of the nation’s best coaches and former professional players.

“The camp in San Diego is our flagship,” says Jason West, senior vice president for Nike Rugby Camps.  “We’ve offered a consistent, quality rugby experience for a decade now and we’re still going strong. It all comes down to having a great staff that truly wants to pass on their knowledge and passion for the game to the next generation.”

Directed by long-time coach Ethan Willis, Nike Rugby Camp offers training led by top player coaches including USA 7s star Stephen Tomasin. Also joining Willis are veteran Nike Camp coaches and lead instructors, Ian Denham and Kalei Konrad.

“For the past decade, our goal has been to provide young players with the opportunity to improve their game while learning from players who have played at the top level,” says Coach Willis. “2018 will be no different as we have assembled a fantastic group of coaches and designed a rewarding curriculum.”

The Nike Rugby Camp in San Diego camp has become a breeding ground for some of the nation’s best young rugby talent. Former Nike Camp regulars, Aaron Matthews, Ryan James, Patrick Madden and Ethan McVeigh are well on their way to illustrious rugby careers after recently being named to the Collegiate All-American and U20 National Team.

Split into two sessions, the programs have age-specific curriculum that work through game strategy, technical skills, and include seminars on college play opportunities and professional rugby. Offered for two weeks this summer with overnight and commuter options, the High School Camp occurs from July 8-11 and the Youth Camp from July 29-August 1.
