Nike Running Camps Announces Dates for its 2019 XC Camp at Elmhurst College
San Rafael, CA – The Nike Running Camps hosts its sixth annual cross country camp this summer on the campus of Elmhurst College, IL. The 2019 dates are June 6-9. In the suburbs of Chicago, this coed, middle distance and cross country camp is directed by Coach Charlie Kern.
Runners have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals necessary for efficient running. Drills to improve proper mechanics and form are incorporated daily. A combination of distance and speed training is utilized to help each runner prepare for the XC season.
Camp Director Charlie Kern has been coaching since 1991 and is currently the head boys track and cross country coach at York High School in Elmhurst, IL. He has coached conference, sectional, state and national championship teams. Kern ran collegiately for the University of Kentucky and was a member of the UK cross-country team, winning the SEC Championship in 1988.
“We will provide athletes with tools they can begin to use right away and then bring back to their teams at home,” says Coach Kern.

Mini clinics are taught by staff and guest speakers to help campers learn applicable training theory, drills, and functional core strength. The overnight camp features several instructional sessions per day, three hot meals, and lodging in the College residence halls. An evening recreation program is also included.
