Furman University Announces 2020 Nike Tennis Camp Summer Dates
February 11, 2020 – Furman University, a staple of Nike Tennis Camps, has been running summer programs since 2007. Led by Furman’s newest Head Men’s Tennis Coach, JJ Whitlinger, these junior tennis camps are designed for players of all ability levels. The Nike Tennis Camp at Furman University will run three weeks of day and overnight camp for summer 2020.
Whitlinger is no stranger to Nike Tennis Camps; originally a camper himself, JJ has also been a camp director across the country for the past decade. Now leading the charge as the Head Director, Whitlinger wants to create an everlasting experience in which campers will train with collegiate level players and staff and will receive in-depth instruction towards every aspect of their tennis game.
“Seeing as I’ve been involved with Nike Tennis Camps for so long, I am beyond excited to finally be able to lead the charge at Furman,” says JJ. “I want to create a program that not only challenges individuals, but also encourages players to want to improve even after the week is done.”
In his professional career, Whitlinger was an Assistant Coach at Stanford University for almost ten years before transferring to Furman University where he was brought on as the Head Men’s Coach in 2019. Under Whitlinger, the Paladin’s 2019 season finished with a 17-5 overall record, including a trip to the championship match of the Southern Conference Tournament.
“His qualifications and passion are unmatched,” says Matt Kurlander, VP of Nike Tennis Camps. “Not only is he involved in the collegiate tennis world, but also has so much enthusiasm towards inspiring youth tennis players.”
The Nike Tennis Camp at Furman University is an Overnight or Day camp program designed for girls and boys of all ability levels, ages 8-18, who are looking to take their tennis skills to the next level and have a lot of fun doing it.
