WHAT FAMILIES SAY ABOUT Nike Soccer Camp at Westmont College - Santa Barbara
113 Reviews
Aidan really grew as a soccer player and young man during the three week camp. This was his first experience being away from home more than a week (at age 12) and wants to return next year. The staff, led by Doug Parra, were amazing and a big part of my son’s positive experience during the three weeks. I attended the Vogelsinger Soccer Academy 29 years ago and am glad my son also has the opportunity to learn the game properly.
Christian had an amazing time at the camp he woke up every morning ready to go back. He will be back next year.
I go to the University of Illinois in Champaign and I have played as the starting keeper for the last 2 years (thanks to my summers at the soccer academy!) I have just been offered a Division 1 Varsity Soccer scholarship at U of I so I will be rostered with them starting this fall. I owe a lot of where I am today to the time i spent with you as my coaches.
Although my son did not know anyone going to the camp, he made friends immediately and really enjoyed his week at camp. He loved the soccer lessons and liked making new friends. The coaches were top notch and seemed to really enjoy teaching the kids.
Lots of one on one time by very dedicated coaches. I was exhausted by the end but very thankful for the experience.
This is my third time and my soccer skills have improved every time. I am happy to see old friends every time and to make new ones. I will surely come back.
I am a third year returning camper and I highly recommend this camp to anyone who has the passion to become a better soccer player. I learn so much each year and my game improves every time. The best part about this camp is that I learn to play my personal best! I also like meeting new campers and making lifelong friends!
My highlights were the games, futsol, swimming ,and playing in the lounge with friends. I also learned that stretching is really important before exercising.
Independence, confidence, endurance! Sebastian had a lot of fun at camp. He learned more about playing in the middle of the field and some defense strategies. Overall, camp has been a great experience! This was Sebastian's 2nd year and he would like to go back next summer! Thank you!!!
My father went to this camp in 1984,85,and 86. He told me this was an incredible experience. After attending the camp I have to agree. The soccer instruction was great, the intensity was high and the people were all very nice. Next year i want to go for 2 weeks. I would love to bring my friends next year. I had an incredible time.
Choosing Vogelsinger was the best decision I made; expectations were exceeded! 2 weeks academy at UCSB Campus were great - and I got in touch with a lot of young people - now friends! Thank you! I will - for sure - return, even if it´s a long trip from Germany!
He wouldn’t stop raving about it. He loved the staff, coach Hormoz, the food, the activities and the facilities. It was his second sleepaway camp of the summer and this one blew the other one away. Thank you!
Derek loved learning new skills and meeting lots of players at the camp. The coaches were very professional/knowledgeable; the physical trainer (Chris) was extremely kind and caring.
Joao had a great time at camp. He got a lot of playing time and was able to play with older players. This allowed him to improve his endurance and running speed. Joao also enjoyed that the camp supervisors were very mindful of his needs and were very polite and courteous. The camp was fantastic! Joao enjoyed it a lot and was very happy with all aspects of the camp.
I would highly recommend this camp to others of any skill level. After spending the week with this organization I feel more confident in my skills and abilities. This camp allowed me to grow and test my skills against older kids in the advanced session versus the beginner due to my age.
I want to thank you and all the coaches that worked so hard with my son. He had so much fun and it was a fantastic opportunity for him to become more independent and more responsible. His passion is soccer and he wants to go back next year. Thank you!
Matthew really enjoyed working with his coaches and improving his skills in the training sessions and games. He found the goalie coach, Juan, to be great to work with and feels like he received helpful, constructive feedback. Matthew & his friends, Alex and Patrick, were very excited about the camp when we picked them up and said that it was a great experience. They all feel that returning multiple years makes the camp easier to adjust to and their skills have greatly improved from attending.
My son and I continue to talk about the fantastic experience we had during the program. My son is using many tools he acquired at the camp in his games now. The level of organization and coaching met and exceeded our expectations, and the facilities were great!
Four years now for my 12 yr. old and she loves it more every year. She even wrote a school essay on Vogelsinger being her favorite week of the year. Next year she goes for two weeks!
Jacob enjoyed getting to know different kids and learning new moves. The facilities were really nice and the food was very good. Goalie coach was very nice and helpful.
This was my son's first time to be an overnight camper and he loved it! The bonding aspect was great. These are lifelong friends he's making year over year. Keep location at the beautiful Cate School. And keep the current leadership. Hormoz does a great job and has the kids' interests at heart. Wonderful experience.
My daughter had a lot of fun at camp. She really felt like she had good trainers to help her. She was very comfortable.
Kole loved sleep away camp with his teammates. It was a safe and nurturing environment.
My daughter rated her experience a 10/10. She loved it!
Reagan loved every part of camp but if she has to pick a highlight, it would be the scrimmages and her coaches.
Stamina. You really push the kids to their athletic limits, it shows them what they are capable of! I love that they come home with an evaluation and specific skills to work on. Meeting friends who also love soccer and being inspired by the wonderful coaches. Also the independence to follow a schedule on his own, go to town with friends. This camp is the highlight of his year! The camp is well organized from check-in to check-out. There is a family feel about it- everyone seems to care about my son's well-being. The accommodations are wonderful and I feel very safe leaving him at Tropicana Gardens, it is great that it is all set up in one courtyard. This is a camp he will return to for many years to come!
Devin was nervous, this being her first overnight camp. She had so much fun all around in this setting. She did have 3 friends attend with her and that made it even better.
This summer was my daughter's first year with your camp and she loved it. We really noticed an increased level in her playing. My husband, who coaches her GU10 team is very impressed with her skills. She can not wait to return next summer and wants to do 2 sessions!
This was Davida's fourth year attending the Nike Soccer Camp at the Cate School. Every year she has the time of her life, and she comes home a better soccer player.
Vogelsinger Soccer Academy at UCSB is a wonderful experience, both athletically and socially. The weather is perfect, the coaches are international and quite good. My daughter can't wait to return next year.
My son had an excellent experience and is looking forward to next year. He stated that he really liked the instruction and said everything was explained, demonstrated and passed on really well. The motivational attitudes of the instructors kept the camp fun and at the same made want to learn. Christian says thanks for everything and he'll see you next year.
My son has improved remarkably during each of the two years he has attended camp. The coaches and trainers are excellent.
Volgelsinger Academy was just an awesome experience for my daughter. My daughter is 13 and had the experience of a lifetime. She got to meet kids across the Globe and to this day she is still talking with these kids. I thought that the safety overall was great and the kids never left without being in groups. The soccer training was exceptional, along with a rigorous soccer training schedule. My daughter went to the three week Academy and when she got home she was very drained and exhausted. She tells me that she wants to go back next year.
Our son has participated in many soccer programs, and found the Nike Vogelsinger camp at UCSB to be a fantastic experience - disciplined training, a high level of skills, campers from around the globe and a fun campus environment.
My daughter went to this camp with one of her team mates. She worked very hard and had a wonderful experience. Her coaches provided her with great leadership, and she developed an array of new skills. It was clear she developed and has already told me that she wants to return for at least two weeks next year. She came away with greater confidence in both soccer and with self esteem. She also made some amazing new friends! She said it reaffirmed her love for the game, and instilled more of a personal work ethic in her, as well as taught her to be more coachable.
The camp was really great! I'd recommend it to anyone, even if you've never played before. It's a great learning experience. You can make new friends very easily!
She felt the instructors were incredibly knowledgeable. She loved the setting of Cates school. Overall she simply “loved this camp”! Thank you!

I have attended Vogelsinger Soccer Academy for the past 2 years. My best friend and I have enjoyed it so much that we told all of our friends and we were able to fill our suite with our friends. Our friends had a blast, loved the program, and have now told their teammates and it looks like we will be able to fill 2 rooms next year. Now that's the best testimonial you can get!!! I can't say enough about how wonderful the coaches are. The coaches are fun, competent and they work hard on giving us new moves and tips for making us a more complete player. The fields are nice, and close, and the dorm rooms are great. The food is pretty good too! We love to order take-out pizza. It makes for a fun night of Pizza. Nothing better than a good giggle with your best friends at camp! And finally, Doug Parra... He has got to be the nicest director ever! He is constantly overseeing everything and making sure that everyone is fine. It's awesome when I show up to the camp the first day and Doug is greeting me and knows my name. I know that if I ever had a challenge or problem at camp, Doug would fix it. He is very approachable and I am comfortable going to him for anything I need. See you next year!
Loved meeting new friends. The campus and field were first rate. It was great to have 1-1 experience with amazing coaches for goalie skills, as a lot of camps don't focus on the goalie.
As a parent, I was very impressed when showing up on Friday. The camp director, as well as, most of the staff all took time to talk with me and knew exactly who my son was. Each of them provided feedback for me on my son. My son is so picky, but he really enjoyed this camp. He loved the strong workouts and training philosophy. The direction from coaches from different parts of the world was also greatly appreciated by him. I'm hoping to send him back next summer to try out the 2nd week of the program.
This camp is just wonderful! It helps you in every way possible, at first I didn't think that the kicky kicky thing with coach Matt wouldn't help a bit but honestly does. This camp is great because it shows great spirit and friendliness. They promise that you'll go home a better player and you honestly do!

My son had fun and made a lot of new friends. This is a great camp and he learned to play better defense.
The camp was really great! I'd recommend it to anyone, even if you've never played before. It's a great learning experience. You can make new friends very easily!
She felt the instructors were incredibly knowledgeable. She loved the setting of Cates school. Overall she simply “loved this camp”! Thank you!
Reagan loved every part of camp but if she has to pick a highlight, it would be the scrimmages and her coaches.
Davida loved staying in the dorm rooms and having fun with the other campers her age. She said the best part of the camp for her were the training sessions that focused on goalkeeping skills, however she said everything was valuable to her and she enjoyed all of it.
He wouldn’t stop raving about it. He loved the staff, coach Hormoz, the food, the activities and the facilities. It was his second sleepaway camp of the summer and this one blew the other one away. Thank you!
Thank you!
My son and I continue to talk about the fantastic experience we had during the program. My son is using many tools he acquired at the camp in his games now. The level of organization and coaching met and exceeded our expectations, and the facilities were great!
I have attended the camp for six years now and have always found it to be a place where I improve my soccer skills along with it being a bonding experience with both teammates and new friends. It's an amazing experience that I look forward to every summer!
My son learned about work ethic and ball skills while continuing to have fun! He really grew as a player and it helped him to be around other players with passion. He improved all aspects of his game from shooting to control.
My son was saying tonight that the camp was a good all around experience. Tim explained to him what he needed to work on and was very positive which gave him the confidence he needed. Tim’s name comes up often when talking about soccer and college. He left a big impression on my son and it shows in his games this year with the high school soccer team. His confidence level is much higher along with his play. Looking forward to seeing next year’s camp schedule.
I attended the camp and I thought it was very exciting and fun and I will definitely be coming next year the camp is very safe and organized and I'm sure your kid will have a blast! The dorms are very clean and quite spacious too! If you're looking for a fun, good soccer training, great food(lots of varieties), and good coaches this is the place for you.
It was really fun to be able to be on my own without my parents and hang out with the other boys in the camp. The soccer training was fun and the meals were great. The one v ones were great and helped me to think fast.
Although my son did not know anyone going to the camp, he made friends immediately and really enjoyed his week at camp. He loved the soccer lessons and liked making new friends. The coaches were top notch and seemed to really enjoy teaching the kids.
My daughter loved her camp counselor Sofia. For her first sleep away and I loved that for 12 and up you had to be club of competive so that she was challenged all week. The director was so personable. She also liked her coach - she was in the 12 year old group
Zachary learned so much. Most everyone was supportive and fun. The coaches were amazing. Such a great experience.
Bob and Hermos were incredible people and made my 8 year old feel so welcomed for his first camp.
My camper had rave reviews about how fun it was
The social aspect was one of the highlights of the camp. I attended the camp before player one performance took over and the friendliness of the coaching staff increased by an incredible amount once player one performance came in.
As a goalkeeper, I had a slightly different experience than the rest of the players with my highlight being keeper training and the World Cup.
The kids loved the World Cup tournament every evening as well as the coaches amazing social skills making him feel very welcome.
My daughter really enjoyed the counselors and soccer-activities. She also mentioned the food was really good.
Seeing my son learn and grow and adapt to new surroundings with the support from the coaches at the camp was great.
My child did the day camp and has begged me to go back next year overnight. He had a fantastic time.
My daughter stated that her skills increased, particularly in goal. She also loved the food served!
Had a great experience. Felt challenged with training seasons. Made great new friends.
My child felt she was being challenged and improving in a positive atmosphere
Daily drills and the breakdown of how they applied to game situations
The coaches were hilarious and I LOVED BONDING WITH THE OTHER PLAYERS
Our daughter loved every minute of it and wanted to stay another week
Our younger child, 11, loved the freedom and being with friends.
TJ has returned a more confident, mature player and young man
It is really fun, you meet a lot of nice people and you cannot leave without learning a lot. Even if you are already a great soccer player you always come out of there even better, wether you learned moves tactics, or just have a better shot, it is worth it.
This camp is sooo good because there are girls at advanced levels and coaches can teach us in a way that's not judgmental or critical but caring They want us to improve for ourselves and the coaches give great motivational advice that's not BS. Bottom line, Vogelsinger cares about my improvement in soccer. That Matters.
She learned a new shooting technique, what to do when a defender is coming at you, New moves and how to accelerate when you do them. Highlights were the World Cup, Evening games, and the food.
The Goalie Camp was amazing. My daughter came home every day wanting to show off something new. Everyday. We will be back for another 3 week's next summer.
The Soccer Academy is a wonderful experience for true lovers of the game. There are players from all over the world who end up here and their common love for the game is a real bonding experience. Returning year after year, the campers establish potential lifelong friendships. And the level of coaching and intensity of play can't be beat. Hormoz and Wes run a great camp. You (and your player) won't be disappointed.

Quincy loved hanging out with his friends who were at camp, the student lounges and staying in the dorms. He really liked the soccer drills and that they focused specifically on one subject or concept during trainings. It was fun and certainly helped him grow as a soccer player. We look forward to doing it again next summer!
Hudson really enjoyed the camp instructors. Kudos to the coaches team, Hudson kept on saying how they were great footballers but also how kind they were. Thanks!

Alan is an amazing coach he is really one of a kind. Vogelsinger did a great job of making me a better player and I really could feel myself improving during the week.

The safety was my number one concern, with a young overnight camper. They exceeded my expectations there. My son learned a lot and had a lot of fun!
