Hosted at Westminster University, the camp combines top-tier instruction with an unforgettable summer experience. Next Athletes, operator of the Nike Softball Camps at Westminster, provides an incredible opportunity for campers to learn from amazing coaches. The camp staff is comprised of dedicated college coaches, high school coaches, and collegiate athletes who are committed to helping campers improve their skills and create memories that last a lifetime. The camp is open to girls, ages 12-17.

Camp Director Westy McQueen

Westy McQueen is the owner and camp director for Next Athletes, operator of the Nike Sports Camps at Boise State University and Westminster University.

Westy has over 10 years of experience operating youth programs and has designed the Next Athletes programs with the purpose of providing a truly memorable, sport development experience for each child. Westy is a Positive Coaching Alliance certified coach, Level II U.S. Kids Golf Certified Coach, and specializes in volleyball, soccer, golf, and football.
Softball Director Marissa Chavez

Marissa Chavez is the assistant coach for Utah Tech Softball. Marissa was a four-year starter at BYU, making over 100 appearances and being named First Team All-WCC.

Originally from Covina, Calif., Chavez joined the staff at Fairleigh Dickinson Florham for the 2023 season, where she began work on a graduate degree.
Support Staff Kristen (Pat) Moore

Kristen (Pat) Moore is a player development coach for Seattle Fastpitch Club and serves as an assistant coach for the Nike Softball Camp at Westminster University. Kristen played Division I softball at DePaul University and University of Washington, where she won many awards including Big East Pitcher of the Year, All-Big East First Team, NFCA All-Region First Team, and 2X Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll.
Sports Psychology Director Hope McQueen

Hope McQueen serves as the Sports Psychology Director for Next Athletes and provides sports psychology and performance support at the Nike Sports Camps at Westminster University and Boise State University. Hope is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant and has a master’s degree in Sport and Performance Psychology from California Baptist University.

Hope is a former Division I and semi-professional soccer player and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a high-level athlete. Hope works with many families and youth sports organizations to help their athletes take control over the most important part of the game, the game played in between the ears! Hope works with kids of all ages.

Scott Petersen, an athlete parent turned college recruiting consultant, has a great deal of knowledge to share with parents and athletes about the recruiting process. Scott is a college recruiting expert for Next Athletes and is excited to share his expertise at the Nike Camps at Westminster University and Boise State University.

Scott brings to the table over 32 years of marketing expertise and a passion for helping student-athletes fulfill their dreams. His mission originated from a personal journey with his son’s athletic recruitment. Despite hiring six well-known brands in the recruiting world, his son had no offers or scholarships as he entered his senior year of high school. Fueled by a steadfast belief in his son’s potential and his own marketing acumen, Scott took the recruitment process into his own hands. In a short span, his son went from zero offers to over 26 offers and $1.1 million in scholarship opportunities. Scott’s innovative approach involved a high-level exposure program and an athlete branding program, ensuring that each student-athlete’s skills and potential were showcased to the fullest. When the world turned on its head with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Scott saw an opportunity to support other talented athletes facing similar struggles. His unique recruitment strategy resonated with families across the entire country, leading to the successful recruitment of over 400 athletes from coast to coast.

Peter Ozolin is an athlete-parent, former high school football coach, and experienced college recruiting advisor. Peter is a college recruiting expert for Next Athletes programs and offers a wealth of information to share with Nike Camp families.

Peter Ozolin is a successful entrepreneur who has made it his mission to help student-athletes realize their full potential, both on and off the field. With a rich background in business leadership and a deep passion for mentoring, Peter brings a unique set of skills to the world of athletic recruiting. Throughout his career, Peter has consistently shown an ability to identify potential and foster growth. From his early days as a tech entrepreneur to his time leading Manzama, a leading provider of news and media aggregation tools, he has always been guided by a deep-seated desire to help others succeed. This desire, combined with his entrepreneurial mindset and marketing expertise, has led him to the world of athletic recruiting. Peter’s journey started with his family’s personal experience. When his son embarked on the high school recruiting process, Peter applied his business marketing knowledge and strategic thinking to the task, leading to a multitude of offers. This experience underscored the transformative impact that targeted marketing and strategic planning can have on an athlete’s recruiting journey. Inspired by this success, and the opportunity to make a major impact in young athletes’ lives, Peter began helping other student-athletes achieve similar outcomes. Certified Athletic Trainer Lindsey Lunt

Lindsey is a Licensed and Certified Athletic Trainer and provides on-site support for Next Athletes and the Nike Sports Camps at Westminster University and Boise State University.

Lindsey is a Certified Athletic Trainer at Westminster University in Salt Lake City, where she primarily helps with the Women’s Basketball team. She is originally from Arizona. She attended Southern Utah University where she received her Bachelor of Exercise Science Degree. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Utah, earning her Master of Athletic Training degree. She has a passion for helping athletes achieve their full potential and watching them succeed at what they love doing. In her free time, she loves to read, be outside, hike, camp, and spend time with her loved ones.

Instruction will focus primarily on hitting, fielding, base-running, and game situations. You can expect high demand for these first come first serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early.

2024 CAMP INFORMATION

Dates: June 17-21, 2024
Age Group: 12-17
Camp Type: Day Camp (commuter) | Overnight
Day Camp Schedule: Monday 8:30am-4:00pm, Tuesday-Thursday 9:00am-4:00pm, Friday 9:00am-12:00pm
Check-in: OVERNIGHT campers check-in between 7:30-8:00am on Monday in front of Hogle Hall. There will be camp staff at the entrance to direct you. Overnight campers will check into their dorm prior to arrival. DAY campers should arrive between 8:00-8:30am at Behnken Field House at Dolores Eccles Athletic Center. There will be a camp orientation at Behnken Field House at Dolores Eccles Athletic Center at 8:30am following check-in which we highly encourage the parent or guardian to attend. Parents are welcome to depart following orientation.
Check-out: A closing ceremony will take place at Behnken Field House at Dolores Eccles Athletic Center 12:00pm on Friday. Day Campers will be picked up immediately following the closing ceremony. Overnight campers check-out from the dorm immediately following orientation.
Meals: All meals are provided for Overnight campers. Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.

PARKING

OVERNIGHT parents may temporarily pull to the curb in front of Hogle Hall for a quick drop-off/pick-up of luggage. OVERNIGHT and DAY camp parents may park in the parking garage beneath Dumke Field (a short walk to Behnken Field House).

HOUSING

Dorm: Hogle Hall
Number of Campers Per Room: 2 per room
Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual and received no later than 14 days before the start of camp. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
Bathrooms: Shared
Linens: Not included. Bring linens or sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel.
Air Conditioning: Yes

SUPERVISION

The staff reside in the dormitories with the campers and participate in all activities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRAVEL

Nike Softball Camps does not provide transportation from airports, train stations or bus depots. If you have a child flying to camp, please arrange a shuttle or taxi service.

TEAM/GROUP DISCOUNT

If you have a group of campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a discount. Please have someone contact the US Sports Camps office at 1-800-645-3226 with the names of each camper in the group and we will create a unique discount code for your group. Campers may then register individually through the website at their convenience and apply the offer code during checkout. *Discount amount varies by program. Please call for details.
