Make Less Mistakes on the Green

2008 Lpga Championship Lorena Ochoa Putting 1

Putting under pressure is easily the most challenging aspect in the game of golf. Players and coaches have many theories about the mental aspect of this situation, but many of these fail to point out inconsistencies in your stroke during this stressful situation. One way that the average player can prevent missing short putts is by freezing their hands. When approaching a short putt, getting complacent can be easy and this causes intermediate players to use their hands a lot.

One easy method for fixing this is to buy a thicker grip for your putter as it give your hands less opportunities to move throughout the stroke. If you are concerned about the club feeling awkward when you first use it, don’t. This is a very normal feeling when making any club adjustment and grip change is a veteran move that can help any golfer. Even top-tier professionals like Jordan Spieth and Jason Dufner have opted for the fat-grip.

A more instructed way for becoming a better putter, however, is by going to a local course and working with a teaching professional. They will provide phenomenal grip advice and work to find the one that is right for you, making you a more consistent and confident player on the green.
