Nike Field Hockey Camp in Lexington Adds New Program for Beginning Players
The popular Nike field hockey camp in Lexington has added a new program for young field hockey players to their 2019 summer lineup. The Sticks for Starters program is designed as a beginner field hockey camp for players who are just starting out or are new to the sport of field hockey. Laura Galopim, current Head Field Hockey Coach at Lexington High School, will lead the program.
Galopim was just recently named the new Nike Field Hockey Director for the Lexington camp, and currently runs the Nike Field Hockey Camp at Endicott College. Galopim is dedicated to ensuring that even the youngest of campers can grow in the sport they love.
“We are really excited to introduce the sport of Field Hockey to the younger girls and boys in our area. This is a great opportunity to grow the game and introduce a new sport to our youth,” exclaims Laura. “I started a youth program in Lexington a few years ago and I saw how excited the 1st and 2nd graders were each and every week. This camp will allow them to learn more, practice the skills and have a ton of fun while doing it!”
The Sticks for Starters camp will be the first introductory field hockey program offered by Nike Field Hockey Camps. While under Galopim’s instructions, young players will learn basic stick work such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. Campers will also learn a solid foundation of their fundamentals through basic drills.
The camp is set to run July 22-25, and is open to both boys and girls, ages 7-10, with each day running from 9:00am-11:30am.
