3 tips for baseball players at the plate

Nike Baseball Tip Hit With Plan1

Hitting a baseball can be one of the hardest things to do in a sport. Hitters don’t know what pitch is coming at them and how fast it’ll be. That is why youth baseball players need to approach the plate with a plan in mind.

Plans can obviously vary based on situations and any plays the coach might call but, one thing a batter should always do is look for a pitch. During an at bat, looking for a certain pitch to hit is much easier than trying to hit a fastball, change-up and curve-ball all at the same time. Baseball players that look for a certain pitch will allow them to focus on a certain pitch and adjust their swing accordingly. Nike Baseball Camp Director Tom Myers has 3 tips for approaching the plate:

  1. Commit to that pitch
  2. Hunt it
  3. Remain confident in your plan

Confidence in your plan at the plate will be crucial to execution. Have fun with the at bat and plan to hit the ball. Baseball is a game of situations, live in the moment and learn from each situation at the plate. Learn more baseball tips and develop new approaches to hitting at Nike Baseball Camps.
