Peak Performance: Excitement Rules
by Nick Baker, Head Coach of Peak Performance Swim Camp
When excited, swimmers become ignited. Excitement and the ignition that follows supplies the motivational fuel to survive and thrive in the demanding world of competitive swimming. Swimming excitement comes from various sources including positive performance results, stimulating practices, and inspirational coaches. All too often I encounter swimmers who lack excitement, and as a result, underperform in the pool. I totally believe that swimmers perform far better when their excitement levels and fitness levels are at par. With that in mind, coaches should do everything possible to ensure that swimmers’ excitement levels remain high throughout the season, particularly during the grueling months of winter.
Peak Performance Swim Camps
A great camp curriculum means nothing unless you have a team of great coaches to implement it. To develop the caliber of coaching we require, a comprehensive and systematic method of certification for our coaching staff is offered. Certification consists of three levels: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Coaches advance from one level to the next based on knowledge, experience, and achievement. An Honorary Coach category is also included.
ALL coaching levels fully endorse the PEAK mission statement, our holistic training philosophy, and the PEAK Promise. Additionally, they are active participants in the PEAK Your Knowledge Continuing Education program and have completed Red Cross safety training.
