Nike Cross Country Camps is coming to Boise State University in 2024! The camp combines top notch distance running instruction with an incredible summer experience. Next Athletes, operator of the Nike Sports Camps at BSU, provides a perfect opportunity for campers to learn from amazing distance running coaches in a beautiful campus environment. The camp staff is comprised of dedicated college coaches, high school coaches, and collegiate athletes who are committed to helping campers improve their results and create memories that last a lifetime. The camp is open to boys and girls, ages 10-17.

    Cross Country Director Greg Mitchell

    Greg Mitchell joined the NNU track & field and cross country staff in the fall of 2022, serving as the assistant cross country coach and the assistant track & field coach for the distance events. Mitchell brings plenty of experience to the program with over 25 years of coaching at the collegiate, high school, and club level. He most recently served as the head coach of the Rose City Track Club in Portland from 2017-2021, coaching post-collegiate athletes to achievements such as Olympic Trials Marathon and Boston Marathon qualifying times.

CAMP DETAILS

SECURE YOUR SPOT!

You can expect high demand for these first-come-first-serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early. This summer, the camp at Boise State University is offering one session of overnight with a day camp (9:00am-4:00pm) option for boys and girls, ages 10-17. Upon arrival at camp, campers are placed into groups with other athletes of similar ages and ability levels. Our camp staff will do their best to accommodate your needs, with consideration of your experience and desire to improve. Next Athletes has designed a comprehensive training program suitable to all levels, including drills, pacing, strength endurance, speed and core strengthening, and mental toughness.

2024 OVERVIEW

  • Meals:
    • Overnight Campers: receive all meals on campus
    • Day Campers: Meals are NOT provided. Please bring a packed lunch OR cash.

CAMP SCHEDULE

  • Check-in:
    • Overnight campers check-in between 11:30am-12:00pm at the courtyard in front of Caven-Williams Sports Complex (the indoor football field). Families should pull into the parking lot on the West side of Albertson’s stadium and pull all the way to the back left corner of the lot. There will be camp staff waiting to direct you. Overnight campers will check into their dorm prior to arrival. After overnight campers check in, parents and campers will walk to the front of Keiser Hall where the campers will receive their room keys. Campers will then check into their room in Taylor Hall (across from Keiser Hall), leave their luggage, and return immediately to Caven-Williams Sports Complex for Orientation.
    • Day campers should arrive between 12:00-12:30pm at Centennial Amphitheater for check-in. There will be a camp orientation at Caven-Williams Sports Complex from 12:30-1:00pm following check-in which we highly encourage the parent or guardian to attend. Parents are welcome to depart following orientation.
  • Check-out: (All campers) A closing ceremony will take place at Caven-Williams Sports Complex at 12:00pm on Thursday. Day Campers will be picked up immediately following the closing ceremony. Overnight campers check out from the dorm immediately following orientation.
  • Day Camper Daily Schedule: Sunday: 12:30PM-4PM; Mon-Wed: 9AM-4PM, Thursday: 9AM-12PM **Times subject to change
  • Parking: OVERNIGHT and DAY parents please park in the West Stadium Parking Lot for all drop-offs and pick-ups.
  • Note: Camp is closed to spectators during daytime hours. Parents are highly encouraged to attend orientation and the closing ceremony!
  • Parent/Camper Seminars: Both campers and parents are invited to join us from 7:30-8:30pm each night at Appleton Tennis Center for evening seminars. Guest speakers include college coaches, college recruiting experts, current and former collegiate athletes, and our sports psychology director.

HOUSING

  • Dorm: Taylor Hall
  • Campers Per Room: 2
  • Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be received no later than 14 days before the start of camp. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
  • Bathrooms: Shared
  • Linens: Not provided. Please bring twin XL sheets or a sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel.
  • Air Conditioning: Yes
  • Key Deposit: $75 (check made out to "Next Athletes, LLC)

Staff members reside in campers’ quarters and participate in all activities.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEES:

  • Instruction: Daytime training sessions
  • Overnight campers: Dormitory housing on campus, evening activities and all meals
  • Day campers: Instruction and daytime activities only. Lunch is not included
  • Supervision: Staff members reside in adjacent rooms to the overnight campers and participate in all activities
  • Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Running Camp t-shirt and prizes

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

  • Grouped by: age, ability, and experience
  • Equipment needed: Please bring your own running apparel, running shoes/event spikes, and hat/sunglasses. Please be sure to properly mark your equipment, so that it can be easily identified.

DAY CAMPERS:

  • Signed Heath & Release forms and waivers (forms completed online do not need to be printed and turned in at camp)

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided to/from camp. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time. If there is a need for additional facilities, we may conduct camp nearby at an off-campus location. In this case, overnight campers will be bussed to this location and day campers will be dropped off and picked up at the destination. Parents will be given notice if this is the case.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

CAMP TUITION PAYMENTS

Full payment of camp fees must be completed by the first day of the month before camp. For example:

  • June Camps: final payment is due on May 1
  • July Camps: final payment is due on June 1
  • August Camps: final payment is due on July 1

Any camper with an unpaid balance 10 days before the start of their camp will forfeit all camp fees paid to date and be removed from the camp.

Your confirmation email shows your balance due and balance due date. Final payments can be made through the US Sports Camps Customer Portal or by phone at 1-800-645-3226.

Camp Questions & Answers

Does the Health & Release Form need to be signed by a doctor?

Our Health & Release Form does not require a doctor’s signature. This online form is required to be filled out accurately, signed by the parent (guardian), and completed before your first day of camp.

Can I come to camp alone or do I have to be a member of a team?

We welcome individual campers and teams. If you come to camp by yourself, we place you in a dorm room with another single camper, similar in age. It's a great place to meet new friends who share your enthusiasm for the sport and to have FUN!

Are the campers supervised throughout the camp?

Yes, campers are supervised by the coaches and staff. Staff members reside in the same dorms as the campers and provide supervision during instruction, dining times, evening activities, and in the dorm.

All staff members complete criminal and sex offender background checks before working the camp.
