2019 St Andrews Golf Camp Report
A Hole-in-One!
The great Bobby Jones once said,
“I could take everything out of my life except my experiences at St. Andrews, and I would still have a rich full life.”
32 very lucky golfers would certainly agree with Mr. Jones as they found themselves playing a different style of golf (links, of course!) just steps away from the North Sea, relishing the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Old Tom Morris in the heart of ‘The Home of Golf’.
90 holes of Bucket-List golf played over 7 days left a lasting impression and enough memories to satisfy a lifetime for this group of intrepid travelers. Days filled with seaside holes, intense bunkers, and double greens built up excitement for evenings full of Scottish culture and haggis for those brave enough to take a bite or two!
Parents also got to see St Andrews from a local’s perspective (thanks to our guides Jamie, Marc and Claire)… enjoying the rich history and first-class golf courses while playing alongside their kids and creating memories that will no doubt be remembered far beyond the birdies and bogeys.
Brian, who traveled from Chicago with his daughter, Elizabeth, had this to say. “This truly was the trip of a lifetime. The accommodations were top-rate and the St. Andrews Camp Staff were attentive, professional, and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible experience. All five courses were amazing in their own ways but our favorites were St. Andrews Castle Course and Kingsbarns. At Kingsbarns, we were playing at 10:00 p.m. and it was still light out. Definitely a unique experience for people from Chicago. I would highly recommend the Parent-Child Golf Camp. My daughter and I will never forget this golf trip!”
David, who came with his son, added, “It was honestly the most fun and awesome week of our golfing lives. Cooper and I will be talking about this one for years. And the service and facilities were top notch.”
When asked about their experience having families from the states come over to St Andrews, Owners Marc and Jamie Gentles said, “We cannot thank these families and young golfers enough for their commitment and positive attitudes. Everyone worked hard, and it showed on the course. We enjoyed meeting everyone, hearing about their amazing rounds at these beautiful courses and showing them ‘The Home of Golf’.”
Tyler's Mom, Melanie, was impressed with how smoothly everything went. “Marc and his family and team were excellent hosts and were always around to help us during the week. The bus shuttle drivers were great too!”
“Great all around experience! Playing excellent links courses, staying in a comfortable hotel and enjoying the unforgettable atmosphere that is St Andrews - could not ask for more!" says Robert Ormerod, one of the fathers accompanying his son on the trip.
"As for the instruction and the golf - we came with high expectations and the results exceeded them! Outstanding!”
When asked to sum up the trip, Blaire's Mom, Alison, simply said, “Great coaching. Gorgeous setting. Loved the Fairmont. Perfect transportation logistics.”
Anna, a 17 year-old golfer from Michigan, raved about her experience. “I absolutely loved the camp. I loved the people that were there and the counselors that drove us to the courses and hung out with us. I really felt welcome and comfortable, and I never felt judged. I really liked the determination of all the coaches about wanting to help me and the other golfers get better... they really enjoyed there job and it showed. I would 100% come back.”
