UNC Tar Heels Set to Host Nike Junior Golf Camps in North Carolina
The UNC Tar Heels men’s coaching staff aligns with Nike Junior Golf Camps to offer boys overnight camp and father-son day programs.
January 22, 2018 – University of North Carolina Men’s Golf, led by Head Coach Andrew DiBitetto and Assistant Coach Matthew Clark, have agreed to run summer golf camps under the Nike Junior Golf Camp banner beginning in 2018. The alliance brings together one of the most popular college golf camps in America with the largest youth camp operator in the world.
“Working in conjunction with the North Carolina brand and coaching staff is very exciting,” states Nicholas Brunner, vice president of US Sports Camps. “We strive to provide the best instruction available and Coach DiBitetto and his staff have created one of the finest golf camp experiences based on camper/parent feedback. Our aim is to expose more players to these amazing UNC camps.”
Andrew DiBitetto is in his first year as head coach for the UNC Tar Heels men’s program. He spent the last six seasons as the Tar Heels’ assistant coach, including the past three years when he was the associate head coach, earning the Jan Strickland Award in 2016, which is presented to the assistant coach who has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom. DiBitetto has been an integral part of the camps in recent years and will take over as camp director in 2018.

We are always looking at ways to improve and the relationship with US Sports Camps will definitely enhance the camp experience for everyone involved.”
Tar Heels Nike Junior Golf Camps offer a weeklong overnight camp for boys, ages 11 – 18. The junior program runs June 17th – 21st, 2018. Participants reside in dorm rooms and meals/evening activities also occur on campus. Players work to develop strong fundamentals, practice habits, and course strategies via instruction from varsity coaches and players. In addition, two Father-Son Weekend Camps are slated for June 23rd – 24th and July 28th – 29th, 2018. Pairings have the opportunity to share time and tips together on the golf course and on the practice range. These camps are open to male golfers of all skill levels, ages 7 & up.
Course play for all camps takes place at UNC Finley Golf Course, a “Top 10 Golf Courses You Can Play” in the state of North Carolina by the NC Golf Panel and a facility rated 4.5 Stars by Golf Digest. Daily Instruction occurs at Chapman Golf Center, home of the Tar Heel varsity golf teams which includes a private driving range, short game green and several large putting greens.
