    Director Elliott Heath

    Elliott Heath is the BTC club director, elite coach and assistant youth coach. He joined the Bowerman Track Club in 2012 as a professional athlete under Coach Jerry Schumacher. While pursuing his professional running career, Elliott started coaching the BTC Youth program with mentors Chris Cook and John Truax and helped the program grow to over 300 athletes. In addition to his work with the youth program, Heath has developed his passion for coaching as coach of the Bowerman Track Club Elite program, helping BTC’s amateur athletes pursue their post-collegiate running goals.

    Assistant Director Emily Pritt

    Emily Pritt is the BTC Chief Operations Officer, Head Coach of the Bowerman Track Club Youth program, Bowerman 5k Race Director and a BTC Elite athlete. Since joining BTC in 2015, she has been an instrumental part of the club’s growth on all levels.

    Professional Coach Jerry Schumacher

    Jerry Schumacher is the head coach of the Bowerman Track Club’s professional team and one of the most accomplished distance running coaches in the world. Since becoming a full-time Nike professional coach in 2008, 19 of his athletes have made Olympic or World Championship track teams and 5 have set American Records. All told, his athletes have racked up 20 US Championships in track, added 8 more in Cross Country, and collected 5 medals at global track championships. In the span of a year, Jerry coached Shalane Flanagan to a win at the New York City Marathon and Shelby Houlihan to multiple Diamond League victories at 1,500 meters, demonstrating the breadth of his coaching acumen. In 2017 he was named the USATF Coach of the Year.

Camp Details

Celebrating our first year as a Nike Running Camp!

Join for the very first year of the Bowerman Track Club Summer Running Camp. From top to bottom, the Bowerman Track Club is one of the premier Cross Country and Track and Field clubs in the world, and the BTC Summer Running Camp offers a rare opportunity to learn from and run with some of the best in the sport. The camp is designed to take a holistic approach to middle distance and distance running by not only providing challenging workouts, but also teaching each camper about general training philosophy, teamwork, nutrition, strength, injury prevention and recovery. Each camper will have a compatible running group lead by an experienced counselor to train and learn with throughout the week. Taking place in Bend, Oregon, the BTC Summer Running Camp provides a first-hand experience of what it’s like for the Bowerman pros when they train at altitude throughout the year. While campers are expected to work hard, there will also be plenty fun with games, team activities and lasting friendships.

Jerry Shumacher: BTC Professional Coach. Jerry Schumacher is the head coach of the Bowerman Track Club’s professional team and one of the most accomplished distance running coaches in the world. Shalane Flanagan: BTC PRO, Coach. Shalane Flanagan is an American long-distance runner. She holds the American record times in the 3000 meters, 5000 m and 15K road race. She won the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics in the 10,000 m and the bronze medal at the 2011 IAAF World Cross Country Championships.

Pascal Dobert: BTC Professional Coach. Dobert is an American steeplechase runner. He finished seventh at the 1998 IAAF World Cup and competed at the 199 World Championships and 2000 Summer Olympics.

Camp Check-in & Check-out Details:

  • Check-in July 8th: 1:00-3:00pm. Dorm TBD
  • Check-out July, 13th: 10:00-10:30am. Campers check out on dorm floor with staff.

  • High School Program: 14 and up, coed, all skills levels. Entering grades 9-12.

Pre-Existing Conditions: The Nike Bowerman Track Club Running Camp offers an extremely challenging athletic training program. Running on wild forest trails offers pitfalls, challenges and wild life. Please DO NOT come to camp if you have any pre-existing injuries, are not completely healthy and ready to run a minimum of 20-25 miles during camp.

Campers should be prepared to run 5-12 miles per day, 30-70 miles during the week. Mileage depends on experience and fitness. Running groups are based on current fitness level based on mileage per week and average time per mile.

If 5 or more runners attend with their teammates, a $50 team discount will be applied to each teammate's tuition.

Room Key Deposit:

Please check to camp, payable to USSC. $50. The check will not be cashed unless the camper loses their room key. At the end of camp, the checks will be returned upon the return of the room key.

Extra Activities:

There is a rafting trip on the Deschutes River, a camp BBQ, race videos, cascade mountain hiking, talent show, and a swimming pool. We suggest campers bring spending money for evening pizza orders. There will also be a BTC Camp Store filled with the latest BTC and Nike gear.

Redmond Municipal Airport (30 minutes from campus).

  • Preferred Flight Arrival: 11:00 – 12:00 am Monday
  • Preferred Flight Departure: After 12:30pm Saturday
  • Shuttle service is available from the Redmond Airport to and from campus with Redmond Airport Shuttle. Campers' names will be met at baggage claim by the shuttle driver carrying a welcome board. Call them directly to reserve the ride. (541) 382-1687. The owners will gather names of those arriving and will bundle the campers into vans based on arrival times. Cost of the ride, for 1-4 riders, is $45 each way (plus tip) and $55 (plus tip) for 5-10 riders. The more riders per van, the less expensive per person. Please call them directly. BTC does not arrange for transport.

Oregon State Cascade Overview

Located at Oregon State University-Cascades, in beautiful Bend, OR, campers train at state of the art facilities, stay in air conditioned dorms, two bedrooms/one shared bath.

The Nike Bowerman Track Club Running Camp is open to any and all entrants.

Camp Questions & Answers

When and where will the check-in and check-out take place for the 2019 Nike Bowerman Track Club Running Camp?

All campers check in to camp between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on, first day of camp. Follow the signs on campus to registration.

After a closing, check out takes place on Saturday at 10am from the dorms, the last day of camp.

How are runners placed in their running groups?

The BTC staff will creat running groups. Groups are based on a combination of recent mileage, season best 5k, geographic location, and long runs. A change in groups can be accommodated if staff members leading those groups feel it is needed.

What are some of the evening activities that are planned for the campers?

Fun and exciting after evening activities are an important part of the camp experience and are carefully planned by the staff. Evening activities include a camp BBQ, talent show, movies, ultimate Frisbee, and more.

How and when will I receive my registration packet with important camp details?

Well before the start of your camp (at least 3 weeks), you will receive a Registration Packet which will include all the important details about camp: directions to camp, when to arrive, what to pack/ bring, camp address (for mail) and key camp phone numbers and the Medical/ Release form, etc.

Does the Health & Release Form need to be signed by a doctor?

Our Health & Release Form does not require a doctor’s signature. This form is required to be filled out accurately, signed by the parent (guardian), and brought with you to the first day of camp.

Does the Oregon State University-Cascades Dining Services accommodate special dietary needs?

Campers dine at the campus cafeteria which offers a variety of different meal options that are sure to accommodate most campers’ dietary needs.

Are the campers supervised throughout the camp?

Yes, campers are supervised by the coaches and staff. Staff members reside in the same dorms as the campers and provide supervision during instruction, dining times, evening activities, and in the dorm. All staff members complete criminal and sex offender background checks before working the camp.

Does Camp offer transportation to and from Redmond Municipal Airport?

No airport transportation provided. Redmond Municipal Airport is a 30 min drive from campus.

Can I come to camp alone or do I have to be a member of a team?

Nike BTC Running Camp welcomes individual campers and teams. If you come to camp by yourself, we place you in a dorm room with another single camper, similar in age. It's a great place to meet new friends who share your enthusiasm for the sport and to have FUN!

Are team discounts available?

If 5 or more runners from a team attend and register together, a $50 discount will be applied to each member's tuition. Call 800-645-3226 for more details. Or 415-451-2202.

How many campers are placed in a dorm and do you accommodate roommate requests? Does the dorm have AC?

Campers stay 2 per room (doubles). The dorms are air-conditioned. When you register for the camp, you have an option to submit a roommate request. If you would like to add a roommate request after registering for a camp, please feel free to give us a call or send us an email. We accommodate all roommate requests, made 2 weeks before the start of camp. Campers who do not submit a roommate request will be placed in a room with another camper of the same gender and of similar age.

Does Nike BTC running Camp have medical personnel on staff?

We have a certified athletic training on-staff and a doctor on-call at all times in case of a training injury or medical ailment/emergency.

How many miles will we run each day?

Athletes will run two to three times a day. The morning run is more of a distance run and the afternoon track session is an opportunity to work on specific training paces. Actual distances vary based on runners mileage and ability.

What is the cancellation policy?

Hopefully, you will not have to cancel, but if you must, please do so early so that those on the waiting list can be notified.

For those who have Cancellation Protection:
Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees (deposit or full payment) if you cancel for any reason before June 1st., 2019. Please note: $50 Cancellation Protection fee is non-refundable.
If you cancel after June 1st, 2019, we will issue you a camp voucher for all camp fees paid, valid through 2020. Your camp voucher is transferable to family and may be used for any Nike Running Camp.
For those who do not have Cancellation Protection:
If you have to cancel, for any reason, we will issue you a Nike Running Camp voucher for all camp fees paid, valid through 2020. Your camp voucher is transferable to a family member and may be used for any Nike Running Camps. Cash refunds will be given only with the purchase of Cancellation Protection and who cancel on time.
