How to Deceptive Sweep in Field Hockey
This field hockey tip is presented by Vianney Yamada, former Head Field Hockey Coach at UC Davis and Camp Director of the Nike Field Hockey Camps in California held at the University of San Diego and Pepperdine University. Check out Coach Yamada's video tip to help you master the most effective deceptive sweep in field hockey.
The deceptive sweep requires a high level of focus and patience. A few key factors that make it different from a regular sweep is the ball position, body position, and way you swing. This at-home drill is set up with 2 cones, placing yourself in the middle and playing the ball to each cone. It is important that your body position is facing opposite of where you want the ball to go. This drill helps a field hockey player sweep the ball deceptively without giving it away to the opponent.
