Step by Step Method to Perfecting Your Corner Kick

Corner Kick Tip Article Photo

A player that can effectively deliver a corner kick to the right spot can be a hero of the game. If teammates know where you like to place the ball on a corner kick they can put themselves in a position to score. Your set up to your kick is everything. Your ball needs to have a set pace at which it curves into the goalie box, so your teammates can time their attack to score.

There are a few options in how you can attack it. The first option includes a short pass. The player taking the corner kick leads his teammate with a short pass, and they set up a give and go attack to penetrate the defense down the line. This allows for the offense to attack from a better angle and closer range.

The other common option we see in corners deals with service. Whether the kick is a line drive, on the ground or in the air, it is up to the player serving the ball to give his teammates a chance to score. The highest percentage of goals scored on corners happen on the near post. Try and place the ball out closer to where the penalty kick marker is, away from the keeper. The most important thing is to trust that if you do your job your teammates will do theirs!
