5 Tips to Stand Out at Volleyball Tryouts

Volleyball Tryouts

Campers learn skills you need to elevate your game and prepare for your next volleyball tryout.

Trying out for a new volleyball team can be exciting but can also make you nervous. It's okay for volleyball players to feel a little uneasy before they walk out onto the court. Follow the 5 tips below from DI Head Volleyball Coach and Camp Director at Our Nike Volleyball Camp in Tennessee, Sean Burdette, and excel at your next volleyball tryout!

Tip#1

Wear athletic clothes that makes you stand out. A bright t-shirt or headband will make it easier for coaches to spot you on the court. Drawing attention to your skills is the best way to get noticed at a tryout.

Tip#2

Be coachable and listen to directions. Coaches want players they know can follow their directions and execute a game plan. Paying attention when the coach is explaining a drill is vital to a successful volleyball tryout!

Tip #3

Be vocal throughout the day. Calling for the ball, encouraging teammates, and maintaining your voice throughout the tryout can go along way in getting positive recognition by the coaches.

Tip#4

Be positive on and off the court! Coach Burdette at our volleyball camp in Tennessee says, "Carry a positive "can-do" attitude with your coaches and teammates."

Tip #5

Greet your coaches and talk with them throughout the tryout. Don't forget to thank them after you are done.

The best way to prepare for a tryout is by practicing! Check out more volleyball tips and join us this summer to elevate your skills on the court!
