Camp Director Chuck Reid
Chuck Reid is a veteran football coach. In addition to his coaching duties, he's also a Mathematics teacher.View Chuck's Bio ⟩
Chuck's coaching experiences are varied. He began his coaching career as a high school line coach, and then as an offensive coordinator in Newport News, Virginia. He has also been a college defensive coordinator and a high school head coach. Chuck has spent the past seven seasons at The Loomis Chaffee School where he has lead the program's resurgence. Prior to Loomis, he was the head coach at Proctor Academy, where he lead them to their first, and second, Evergreen League Championships going 8-0 in both of those seasons. Several of Chuck's former players have enjoyed successful college football experiences at schools such as UConn, Boston College, Yale, Florida, Cal, USC, Dartmouth, Holy Cross, New Hampshire, Williams, Amherst, Wesleyan, University of Chicago, Lafayette, Colgate, and Brown, to name a few. Chuck believes that academics must be the top priority, and that a "team first" attitude is necessary for success, both in football and in life. Part of Coach Reid's philosophy is that athletes should compete in as many sports as possible, and should be actively involved in the arts programs as well. He also feels that being a well-rounded student is critical for success in life.

Contact Football Camps feature full contact drills and scrimmages with a staff of major college coaches and players. At camps, "contact" is introduced in a slow, gradual progression before any actual "contact" is initiated. Campers are divided according to age, weight and ability.
The instruction (3 times a day) stresses both individual positions and team play with every camper. Thousands of our previous football campers played, or are now playing college football (many at schools represented by our coaching staff).Show Less See More Camp Details
Check-in time and place TBD.
Campers scrimmage in the morning on Wednesday, beginning with the youngest campers. Youngest campers will be ready to check out by 11:00am and all campers should be finished and checked out by 12:00pm. Parents are encouraged to attend the final scrimmages! Check-out is on the grass practice field.
Campers need a full set of football equipment - helmet, shoulder pads, two jerseys (one light/one dark), pants and pads, football shoes (NO metal-tip cleats), athletic supporter, cup and mouthpiece. For campers without equipment, Contact Football Camp has equipment for rent prior to camp at $150 per set (helmet, shoulder pads, pants and pads) and $175 per set if rented on the first day of camp. Individual pieces of equipment are available at $75 per item.
A detailed camper registration packet containing check-in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers prior to camp. Our health and release forms do not require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp.
Suffield offers its students top-level athletic facilities. The Appleton H. Seaverns Athletic Center and the nine playing fields around campus support our programs. The Courtney Robinson ’88 Outdoor Leadership Center includes a 35-foot indoor rock climbing facility and outdoor high and low ropes courses. A turf field with lights was constructed in 2009, and in 2010 our indoor swimming pool was renovated and Tisch Field House opened—a beautiful 30,000-square-foot facility housing two courts for basketball, tennis, and volleyball; athletic offices; a training facility; and squash courts. The summer of 2012 saw additional renovations to the track and football field. A new rowing center and the Hillary Rockwell Cahn ’88 Balance Barn opened in 2015. In short, our athletic facilities are outstanding.

Fun and fundamentals
July 20, 2017: We chose extended stay. First night, Dominic said he wanted to sleep over. We wanted to attend this camp to see how Dominic stacked up against other peers from other programs. The coaches really emphasized fun and fundamentals. Dominic was inspired by the coaches. He is already asking to be signed up for the next camp.

First time campers
July 20, 2017: My boys and their friend were first time campers (8yos, 4th grade). They had a great time playing and really enjoyed the freedom and responsibility of "being on their own" for the first time without parents. The second day of camp (their first without parents there) was a bit of a transition in the morning, but they got the hang of what to do and what the expectation of the coaches was after that, then they really began to enjoy the experience.

AFTER THIS CAMP I CAN'T WAIT FOR FOOTBALL SEASON!
"This was my first overnight camp and I could not stop talking about it when I returned home. My love for the game was only reinforced when I had the opportunity to attend this camp. I look forward to next season."
