Elevate your game at the Nike Adult Pickleball Camp at Balboa Sports Complex. A high-energy, all-skill-level experience designed for players ages 18 and up. Whether you’re brand new to pickleball or looking to sharpen advanced strategies, this camp delivers expert instruction, dynamic drills, match play, and personalized feedback in a fun, supportive environment. Train with experienced coaches, refine your technique, improve court positioning and shot selection, and build confidence in both recreational and competitive play. With premium facilities, a vibrant community atmosphere, and the performance-driven spirit of Nike, this camp is your opportunity to compete, connect, and take your pickleball skills to the next level.

    Mary Pat Faley

    Director

    Mary Pat was the director of tennis at the Riviera Country Club when she first tried pickleball in 2015. She quickly realized this was a sport she could share with three generations of her family, and she was hooked. She oversaw the construction of eight pickleball courts at the club and continued coaching and running both their pickleball and tennis programs until 2022, when she left to open her own facility – Pickletown.

    In addition to coaching, Mary Pat is the author of the book Winning in Tennis and Life, a blueprint for healthy living on and off the court. She is a conscientious manager, skilled in motivating staff, and adept at planning and running events for members. Mary Pat created Pickletown not just as a place to learn and practice the sport, but also as a vibrant community.

    Experience:

    Mary Pat is certified at the highest level of coaching by the Professional Pickleball Registry. She combines this expertise with more than four decades of tennis teaching knowledge to help hundreds of students at all levels, from beginners to professional pickleballers on the PPA tour. Often called “the coaches’ coach,” Mary Pat is praised by her students for her unique energy, commitment, and love of the sport.

CAMP PROGRAM INFORMATION

  • Camp Type(s) Offered: 2 Day Camp (Saturday & Sunday, 9:00am-1:00pm)
  • Gender: Coed
  • Age Range: 18+
  • Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced

SKILL LEVELS & GROUP PLACEMENT

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. Participants are then sorted by ability first, then age per the Camp Director's discretion - adjustments are made as needed during camp.

While there are many ways to define skill levels, the following descriptions are what the Camp Directors at Nike Pickleball Camps will use to organize and group camp participants. At the time of registration, please choose the level that best represents your experience:

  • Beginner: Players at this level are new to pickleball and have little to no experience. They can hit basic shots and possess a fundamental understanding of the rules, scoring, and court positioning. Focus is on building confidence and familiarity with the game. (No rating or DUPR rating 1.0 - 2.5)

  • Intermediate: Players at this level understand the rules and strategy of pickleball and can sustain rallies using a mix of shots. They can hit with some spin and accuracy, resulting in fewer unforced errors. Focus is on refining technique, improving court awareness, and developing strategic play. (DUPR rating 3.0-3.5)

  • Advanced: Players at this level are proficient in all aspects of the game and employ advanced strategies. They exhibit strong footwork and a deep understanding of gameplay dynamics. This level focuses on competitive play, advanced shot-making, and tactical decision-making. (DUPR rating 4.0+)

CAMP CHECK-IN/OUT

  • Check-in: Saturday between 8:45am and 9:00am
  • Check-out: Sunday at 1:00pm

CAMP SCHEDULE

  • Daily Schedule: Saturday & Sunday 9:00am-1:00pm

MEALS

  • Meals are NOT included in the camp tuition. Participants should bring their own lunch and water each day.

EQUIPMENT, FACILITY & MORE

  • Equipment Needed: All campers must bring a pickleball paddle, athletic shoes and a water bottle
  • Facility: PickletownLA
  • Inclement Weather Plan: Indoor courts are available for us if needed.
  • Medical Protocol: In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

CANCELLATION POLICIES *PLEASE READ CAREFULLY*

Cancellations, for any reason, received at least seven (7) days before camp start date, will result in a camp VOUCHER for all tuition fees paid, valid through the following calendar year. Your VOUCHER is transferable to any family member and may be used for any sport. Cash refunds will be given only with the purchase of Cancellation Protection (see terms below). Those who cancel their camp session within seven (7) days of the camp start date will receive a camp VOUCHER for 50% of the camp tuition. Individuals who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows) will forfeit their full tuition payment.

Please note: Any camper with an unpaid balance 10 days before camp will forfeit all camp fees paid to date and be removed from the camp.

Cancellation by US Sports Camps
  • In the unlikely event that US Sports Camps cancels your camp session, we will refund only your camp tuition and registration fee. Camper waives any and all damages that may otherwise arise out of any camp cancellation and agrees to accept as liquidated damages said registration fees.
Cancellation Protection
  • US Sports Camps offers our camp families Cancellation Protection for $100 per session, due at the time of registration. Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of your camp tuition fees paid to date (Please note: $100 Cancellation Protection and Registration fee are non-refundable.) if you cancel for any reason before your final payment date (the first day of the month prior to the month your camp begins, i.e. final pay date of May 1st for any camp in your sport beginning in the month of June). Cancellation Protection is not available for purchase when using a voucher credit towards camp tuition.
  • With Cancellation Protection, if you cancel after your final payment due date, we will issue you a camp voucher for your tuition payments made. Your camp voucher will be transferable to an immediate family member and can be used for any sport. For camps taking place in 2026, camp vouchers are valid through 2027.
Accommodations and Travel
  • These are Day Camps only; housing is not included in the camp tuition. Campers are responsible for arranging their own overnight accommodations.
  • US Sports Camps, the Camp Director, the staff, and the host facility are not liable for any travel arrangements, including but not limited to flights, hotels, Airbnb’s, or rental cars.
  • We recommend booking travel accommodations that are refundable or flexible, in case of any changes to the camp schedule.
