Acquista posted a record of 8-9-2 during the 2011 campaign which included finishing runner up in the ASC Tournament. He continued to expand Adelphi's horizons with games against the #2 ranked Terapins of the University of Maryland, and fellow ACC school, Clemson. Acquista guided his team to an unblemished 4-0 conferece record during the regular season. Since he became head coach in 2007, he has led his team to the conference championship in each of the five seasons, coming out on top in two of them. He was named the ASC Coach of the year for the third time in his career and had seven named to the ASC All-Conference team while three earned All-Academic status. Additionally, for the second straight year, he had one of his players earn the Most Outstanding Offensive Player award in Omar Edwards. Acquista also produced the ASC Tournament's Most Outstanding Offensive Player, MVP and Most Outstanding Defensive Player in Alexander Kouznetsov, Thorne Holder and Mauricio Mora.
The Panthers player development was also evident during the All-Atlantic Soccer Conference selections in 2010, as Adelphi had seven athletes honored (five first-team, two second-team), the most by any school in the conference. Adelphi also led all schools with six ASC All-Academic selections.
The 2009 season was the most successful season the team has had under Acquista. The Panthers captured the regular season and tournament ASC titles, posting a 13-2-4 overall record. Adelphi also completed its second consecutive season without losing a game on Competition Field (7-0-2). Acquista captured his second straight ASC Coach of the Year award, while landing nine players on All-Conference and All-Academic teams, and four on All-Region teams. Freshman Issa Tall was the unanimous pick for ASC Player of the Year, as well as earning College Soccer News All-Freshman honors, being named to the 2009 Soccer All-America first-team, All-Region first-team, and was nominated for Soccer News Net Player of the Year.
Acquista comes to Adelphi with experience as an assistant coach at Hofstra University and his alma mater, St. John's University. Acquista holds a USSF "A" license and won a national championship with St. John's.
Chad Prince is in his second year as an assistant with the Panthers in 2013.
Prince brings well over a decade of combined playing and coaching experience at the NCAA Division I and professional levels. A 2001 graduate of the University of Virginia, Prince captained the Cavaliers as a senior and led the squad deep into the NCAA Tournament all four seasons, including a trip to the 1997 NCAA National Championship game. Prince landed on the ACC Championship Squad as a freshman and was named to the UCLA Invitation All-Tournament Team as a junior.
After his college career, Prince went on to play professionally in the A-League with the Milwaukee Rampage and in the Chicago Fire organization of Major League Soccer, and finished his pro endeavors with the Austin Posse, an A-League team in Austin, Texas.
Prince began his coaching career at the University of Texas-Austin in 2004 where he skippered the women’s soccer club team, and returned to the DI level as an assistant with Campbell University’s women’s soccer team in 2008. Prince then spent two seasons as the head coach for both the men’s and women’s squads at Keystone College, a DIII institution in Scranton, Pa., before most recently serving as the goalkeeper coach at St. Edward’s University.
A former youth national team and All-American high school player at Syosset and 1997 Jewish Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Prince holds a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas. Prince holds three national diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and earned a United States Soccer Federation B License.
