As Athletic Director, Theus helped Bethune-Cookman Athletics emerge from a dormant 2020-21 athletic season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With that also came the Wildcats' foray into the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) after over 40 years in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Theus spearheaded the rebuild of the Wildcats athletic department, including the re-addition of the Wildcats bowling program in 2023 and the construction of an on-campus football practice facility, opening in fall of 2023.

As head basketball coach, Theus has totaled a 21-41 record over two seasons in the SWAC. He led the Wildcats to their first ever SWAC postseason appearance in 2023, where they appeared as the #7 seed.

In August, 2022, Theus and the Wildcats announced the signing of four-star recruit Zion Harmon, the highest-ranked recruit in program history. The No. 1 recruit in the state of Kentucky was ranked 50^th by ESPN, 58^th by Rivals and 63^rd by 24/7 sports. In addition to Western Kentucky, Harmon was also being recruited by Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Seton Hall, and Murray State, among others.
Theus joined the Wildcats Athletic Department after most recently serving as head coach of California State University Northridge. He was named head coach of the Matadors in 2013, where he coached until 2018. Theus led the Matadors to a Big West Conference Final in his first season with the program.

Prior to his time with the Madators, Theus served as head coach of the South Bay Lakers of the NBA D-League for the 2012-13 season. Theus also spent time in the NBA coaching ranks as assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2009-2011, and as head coach of the Sacramento Kings for the 2007-08 season.

Prior to his time as with Sacramento, Theus served as head coach of New Mexico State from 2005-07. In just his first season with the Aggies, Theus turned the program from a 6-24 squad in 2004-05 to a 16-14 team a season later. It was the fifth-best turnaround for a Division I men's basketball team at the time. One season later, Theus led NMSU to their 17th NCAA tournament, their first appearance since 1999, and 14th conference title.

Theus made his first foray into college coaching under Louisville head coach Rick Pitino, serving as an assistant for a Cardinals team that made a Final Four run in 2005.

Theus' first coaching experience came in the American Basketball Association. Theus became the first head coach of the Las Vegas Slam for the 2002 season.

Theus was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the ninth overall pick in the 1978 NBA draft. The 6'7" point guard averaged 16.3 points per game as a rookie, finishing as runner-up for the 1979 NBA Rookie of the Year Award. He was named to the 1978-79 All-Rookie team. He finished second on the team in scoring behind future hall-of-famer Artis Gilmore.

One season later, Theus averaged 20.2 points and 6.3 assists.

Theus appeared in his first NBA All-Star Game in 1981, and later helped the Bulls to the 1981 NBA Playoffs. Those Bulls defeated the New York Knicks before falling to the future NBA champion Boston Celtics a round later.

In the 1982-83 season, Theus averaged a career high 23-8 points per game, leading the Bulls in scoring.

Theus was traded to the Kansas City/Sacramento Kings in 1984 after over five years in Chicago. With the Kings, he continued his impressive play, averaging 18.8 points and 8.1 assists in 346 games over four seasons. Theus helped lead the Kings to two playoff appearances in 1984 and 1985.

In June, 1988, Theus was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, where he made another playoff appearance and a 52-win season.

In 1989, the NBA expansion draft saw Theus selected by the upstart Orlando Magic. Though the new franchise struggled, Theus continued his storng play, averaging over 18 points per game and over five assists.
The New Jersey Nets acquired Theus in June of 1990. He led the Nets in scoring with 18.6 points per game in the final season of his NBA career.

During his NBA career, Theus scored 19,015 points, with 6,453 assists. the two-time all-star currently ranks 63rd all-time in total career points, and 31st in total career assists. Theus is one of only two players in NBA history listed at 6'6" or taller to tally more than 750 assists in an NBA season (788 in 1985-86). The only other player to accomplish the feet is hall-of-famer Magic Johnson.

Theus played one final season of professional basketball in 1992 for Ranger Varese of Italy. he also played along with Aris in the Greek Cup Final in 1993, scoring nine points.

Theus was announced as a nominee for the Basketball Hall of Fame in January, 2023.

Theus played college basketball at UNLV for head coach Jerry Tarkanian from 1976 to 1978. In three seasons with the Runnin' Rebels, Theus averaged 12.9 points, 4.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game. Theus, who became one of the best players to ever don a UNLV uniform, shot 81 percent from the free-throw line for his career while amassing 1,177 career points (21st on all-time scoring list), 401 career assists and 389 career rebounds in just 91 collegiate games.

In his sophomore season, Theus helped lead UNLV to the shool's first ever Final Four appearance, falling to North Carolina by a single point. That UNLV team set NCAA single-season records for total points in a season, most 100-point games, and most consecutive 100-point games.

Theus was named a second-team All-American as a junior.

In 1989, Theus was inducted into the UNLV Athletic Hall of Fame. His #23 jersey was retired by UNLV in 1997, making him one of only eight players in program history to have their number retire
In addition to his playing and coaching careers, Theus has worked as a college and NBA sports broadcaster in various markets, hosting talk shows in Sacramento, Orlando, and Atlanta. He served as an analyst for Turner Sports, Sirius XM, and the Los Angeles Lakers. From 1995-97, he portrayed a high school basketball coach named Bill Fuller in the TNBC Saturday morning sitcom Hang Time.

Theus' other media roles include in-game color commentary for "SlamBall" for the 2002 season, commentary for the video game NBA Live 2002, cameos in films Book of Love, Forget Paris, and Like Mike. Theus also called PAC-12 basketball with Barry Tompkins on Fox Sports Net.

Theus is married to Elaine. Together, the couple have three children - Raquel (Roqui for short); Reginald Wayne Jr.; and Rhyan.

Prior to his time with South Dakota, Eberhart spent 11 seasons in Omaha as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Mavericks. While at Omaha, Eberhart aided in the recruitment of eight all-league selections, three all-newcomer team honorees, the 2015-16 Summit League Transfer of the Year in Tra-Deon Hollins, three Summit League defensive players of the year, and the 2019-20 Sixth Man of the Year in Marlon Ruffin. He has also had three consecutive academic all-Americans from 2019-21. Eberhart was the primary recruiter for five of UNO’s 1,000-point club scorers and had 13 players sign professional contracts. Eberhart’s duties at Omaha included developing and implementing individual player workouts, providing individual skill instruction, managing substitutions, and preparing written and verbal scouting reports on opponents.

Prior to his stint at Omaha, Eberhart was the head men’s basketball coach for Colorado State University-Pueblo from 2005-2011. Eberhart rejoined CSU-Pueblo after serving as an assistant coach there from 1997-2001 under previously named University of Southern Colorado. The ThunderWolves compiled a 76-89 record and made back-to-back trips to the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament in 2009 and 2010.

Between his two stops at CSU-Pueblo, Eberhart joined Colorado State University in 2001 and served as an assistant coach for three seasons while adding recruiting coordinator to his title in 2004. While he was at Colorado State, the Rams claimed a Mountain West Conference Tournament championship and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament in 2003. Eberhart’s most notable signee for the Rams was Jason Smith. Smith went on to win the 2004-05 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year award and eventually was a first round draft pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.

Eberhart’s coaching career began in 1990 as a student assistant on the Adams State men’s basketball team. From there, he spent four years as an assistant coach at two high schools in Denver, Colorado, before earning his first collegiate coaching job as the assistant men’s basketball coach and assistant to the athletic director at Colorado Christian University in 1995.
Eberhart was a standout guard for Adams State from 1986-91. He led the Grizzlies in scoring both his junior and senior years and was a two-time RMAC all-conference selection. Eberhart still holds the Adams State record for most three-point field goals in a game with nine.

Eberhart obtained his bachelor’s in business administration and education from Adams State in 1991 and later went on to receive his master’s in education curriculum instruction and design from Colorado Christian University in 1997.

Prior to his time in operations, In his eight seasons as an assistant coach in Lincoln Park, Garrett re-established Chicago recruiting roots for the Blue Demons. On the floor, Garrett assisted in the daily development of the roster including BIG EAST Rookies of the Year Cleveland Melvin and Billy Garrett Jr. and BIG EAST All-Rookie Team honoree Tommy Hamilton IV and Brandon Young.

In his first season on Dave Leitao's staff, Garrett assisted Leitao in laying the foundation for sustained future success in the program. The Blue Demons recorded a pair of wins over ranked opponents including DePaul's highest-ranked win since Dec. 2006 with a victory over No. 11 Providence in February. The 21-point win over No. 20 George Washington was the largest margin of victory in program history by an unranked DePaul team over a ranked opponent. Off the court, the team placed an impressive 11 players on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and was honored with the NABC's Team Academic Excellence Award. Individually, Eli Cain was named to the BIG EAST’s All-Freshman Team.

The 2011-12 campaign saw continued improvement as the Blue Demons trended upward in victories, points per game and steals per game. DePaul's 74.1 scoring average was its highest mark since the 1994-95 season while the 7.9 steals per game were the most since the 2002-03 campaign. DePaul put together the longest winning streak in nearly a decade in 2012-13 and increased its steal total to 8.3 per game. The 2013-14 season saw Billy Garrett Jr. earn the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year award as the Blue Demons finish the season strong by knocking off Georgetown in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament.

Before moving to DePaul's Lincoln Park campus in 2009, Garrett was the associate head coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for two seasons. Prior to joining the Islanders in May 2007, he was an assistant at Iowa (2006-07), Seton Hall (2001-06) and Siena (2000-01).

Following his first collegiate stop with a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship at Siena, Garrett spent five seasons at BIG EAST member Seton Hall. He made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament and one appearance in the NIT with the Pirates.

Garrett joined the Iowa staff during the 2006-07 campaign and was briefly on the staff at New Mexico before accepting the associate head coach position at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

He started his coaching career in Chicago as head basketball coach at Providence St. Mel High School from 1994-00. Garrett was also athletic director and head track and field coach while leading the basketball program to a 130-50 record in his six seasons. He was a four-time District Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and led Providence St. Mel to four regional titles.

At Providence St. Mel, he tutored former DePaul player LeVar Seals and also coached Steven Hunter while directing the Illinois Fire AAU program. Garrett coached in the Illinois Fire program from 1994-00 and also served as a coach at the ABCD Camp from 1996-00 and was a coach at the adidas International Basketball Camp in Beijing, China in 2004.

The native of Indianapolis, Ind., earned his degree from the University of Indianapolis in 1991 after playing four seasons of football at Illinois State. Garrett and his wife, Annissa, have one son, Billy. Billy was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year in 2014 and the BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2017. He finished his DePaul career ranked among all-time leaders in scoring, free throws and assists. He arrived at DePaul after a standout career at Morgan Park High School where he led the Mustangs to a state title as a senior. Billy played in the NBA G-League during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons for the Westchester Knicks. He finshed the 2018-19 season with his NBA debut as a member of the New York Knicks.

Garrett's father, Bill Garrett, is recognized as the first African-American basketball player in the Big Ten Conference. He played at Indiana for three seasons and finished his collegiate career in 1951 as the program's all-time leading scorer. The All-American at Indiana was drafted by the Boston Celtics and he also played with the Harlem Globetrotters before becoming a Hall of Fame high school coach in Indiana.Skip Ad

Grant joints the Wildcats from Palm Beach State College, where he was the Head Coach from 2019-21. They did not have a 21-22 season. While
there, he mentored two 1st team Academic All- Americans (David Begic & Matthew Allman) and also mentored 12 scholarship level players, 7 moving
to Division One programs.

Grant came to PBSC from Broward College, where he was the top assistant coach under head coach Anthony Anderson. During his tenure, Broward
basketball went 16-12, beating two top-10 nationally ranked teams. The following six Broward players received All-Conference honors under his
supervision: Deandre Pinckney, C.J. Roberts, D’Rell Roberts, Rodney Ray, Jongkor Ajonga and Bralyn James. As the lead recruiter for Broward, Grant
was able to land several NCAA Division I transfers. On the court, he implemented a new defensive system, which led to one of the lowest offensive
scoring margins in NJCAA Region 8.

Before his time at Broward College, Grant served as the director of basketball operations for Wagner College from 2015-2016. His team was the
regular-season champion and earned a bid to the National Invitation Tournament, where they took down number one overall seed St. Bonaventure.
Additionally, he successfully managed a large budget, created scouting reports, and supervised three undergraduate assistants.

Grant also served as the head basketball coach for Team Knight 17U during 2018-19 season. He also spent 2 seasons at New Mexico Military
Institute as an assistant coach, where he was again lauded for his defensive scheme that led to a top-10 defensive ranking and nearly propelled the
team to a playoff spot. While also there, Grant mentored 2021-22 G League Player of the year, Trevelin Queen.

As director of player personnel, Mosley coordinated player nutrition, oversaw skill development, assisted in scouting and film breakdown, served as the liaison to the Bratzke Student-Athlete Academic Success Center, and assisted with needs of the student-athletes.

In 2022-23 Mosley was part of a staff that helped the team win 23 games, the third most in one season in program history. The Colonels reached the championship game of the College Basketball Invitational (CBI). It was the program’s first national postseason tournament title game ever and the first time in 78 years that an EKU team won three games in a national tournament.

Mosley spent the 2021-22 season as an assistant coach at Bethune Cookman University where he oversaw operations, was responsible for video support and assisted with on-court coaching. During the 2020-21 season, Mosley was an assistant coach at Life University. He coached the guards, including two all-conference honorees. From 2017 to 2020, Mosley was an assistant coach for the post-graduate basketball program at Hargrave Military Academy.

The Jacksonville, Florida native played three seasons at Old Dominion before concluding his collegiate career at UNC Wilmington in 2016-17. He helped ODU to its first-ever top-25 national ranking during his sophomore season. As a senior at UNCW, Mosley averaged 8.1 points per game while helping the team win the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament championship and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. He played a post-grad season at Hargrave Military Academy in 2011-12, leading the team to a 38-1 record and a national tournament appearance.

Mosley earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Old Dominion University in 2016. He completed a master's degree in adapted physical education at UNC Wilmington in 2017 and a master's in psychology at Life University in 2021.
