At the Nike Lacrosse Camp, our goal is to stimulate a love for the game by immersing you in the sport and giving you the kind of focused, intensive training essential to improvement. This camp features instruction from Marc Lea, a prominent name in Lacrosse on the Central Coast, and past head coach of the Cal Poly Mustangs. Coach Lea brings a wealth of experience to this camp with numerous accomplishments, including five WCLL league championships and being named national MCLA Coach of the year.

This campus is centrally located in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo. Instruction will take place each day at Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School Athletic Fields.

Director Tom Trokey

Thomas Trokey or Coach Tom as he is better known brings 30 years of coaching experience. His experience extends from coaching elementary school teams to D2 level teams to coaching 17u travel teams. His camp experience is extensive as well, working with ESPN, Baylor University, Mercadel Academy Camps and as a skill and talent evaluator for ScoutsFocus.

His focus sport is basketball, with an energetic coaching philosophy and style that applies to all sports and life. Coach Tom is known for his positive attitude, high energy, and calm teaching approach to sports. His whisper criticism shout praise approach has proven to increase confidence and belief in oneself. He often points to his head and says “If this thing is messed up this thing does not know what to do” (pointing to his body), with a WE over Me approach.

His training and coaching focus on mastering the fundamentals while learning how to control your mind. With a SUCCESS IS MADE IN CANS NOT CAN’TS encouragement, a YOU CAN MESSAGE!

He often compares what is happening in sports to real life.

Coach Tom grew up in St. Louis, MO, and played collegiately at Washington University in St. Louis where he received his bachelor's in business.

Coach Tom is married to Sarah Smith who is a chef/culinary teacher at Serra Continuation High School. They have enjoyed hosting over 60 International students from across the world in their Mission Viejo home and now are enjoying life on the Central Coast.
Head Coach Marc Lea

Marc has been involved with the game of lacrosse here on the Central Coast since his playing days at Cal Poly from 1989-1993. Marc was an All-Star midfielder for the Mustangs, and began coaching at his alma mater in 1997.

Over the course of the next twenty years, Marc developed Cal Poly into one of the elite collegiate club programs in the nation, guiding the Mustangs to five WCLL league championships and multiple trips to the MCLA National Championship tournament. Coach Lea was named the WCLL Coach of the Year in four different seasons, and in 2012 was awarded the national MCLA Coach of the Year. Marc stepped down from the head coaching position at Cal Poly after the 2015 season, and has taken over the head coaching responsibilities for the 805 Lacrosse boys' high school team.
Coach Morgan Weireter

Morgan started his lacrosse career on the east coast in 2009 at Tilton School, competing against some of the best Prep School teams in the country. In his Senior season at Southern New Hampshire University, an NCAA Division 2 Program, Morgan was named All Conference Goalie of the Week, Division 2 Player of the week, and Team MVP. Upon graduation, he moved back to his home area of Los Angeles and began coaching.

Over the course of 7 years, Morgan coached at several high-level programs which include: LA Mavs, Oak Park High School, Crespi Carmelite, and Calabasas High School.

Morgan went to Cal Poly in the fall of 2021 as defensive coordinator, and after only one year, took over as Head Coach. This will be Morgan’s second year as head coach, where the Mustangs have continued to be successful, earning the 1st and 2nd conference positions in both years.

This summer, Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School is offering one session of Day Camp (9:00AM-1:00PM) for ages 9-14. This camp presents an incredible opportunity for youth players to improve their fundamental skills in a fun and safe environment.

This environment not only supports developing players, but we encourage beginners looking to discover the game.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions
Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours.
Reversible Jersey & Prizes: Campers will receive a Nike Lacrosse Reversible Jersey and prizes.

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience.
Equipment Needed: Please bring your cleats, mouthpiece, lacrosse stick(s), helmet and all required lacrosse gear (shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, and athletic cup)
Facility: Mission College Prep Field
Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

Mission Prep 1

Mission College Prep Field

Mission College Prep Field is home to football, boys' and girls' soccer, and baseball. The baseball field has dimensions of 285 feet in left field, 360 feet in center field, and 330 feet in right field. It has permanent lighting and a natural grass playing surface. The facility was renovated in 2007.
