Chris Riley

Virginia Tech head volleyball coach Chris Riley recently wrapped up another successful season in his sixth year at the helm. Coming off of the first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, Riley led his Hokies to an 18-13 record in 2011, also improving in conference play with an 11-9 finish. Upping his career record at Tech to 108-80, Riley notched his fifth winning season since 2006 and matched his best conference finish since arriving at Tech.

The 2011 season also marked the fourth consecutive season that Riley has had at least one Hokie earn AVCA All-America honors. This was also the fourth straight year at least one player was named to the All-ACC team. Two individuals also finished the season ranked among the top 40 in the nation in blocks and aces per set. As a squad, Riley’s team finished the year as the No. 29 team in the country averaging 2.62 blocks per set.

Dominating competition in Cassell Coliseum, Tech put together a 15-4 home record in 2011, including an exciting four-set win over NCAA Tournament participant North Carolina. Tech also swept in-state rival Virginia for the second year in a row.

Riley graduated five seniors this season, two of which finished their careers among the all-time greats in Tech history.  The senior setter finished her career ranked 3rd all-time in assists, while the senior outside hitter is ranked 4th in aces and 7th in digs in Tech history.

Great experience

My NIKE Volleyball Camp experience was a great one! The coaches are knowledgeable, encouraging, and friendly. We spent time drilling and working on skills as well as playing actual Volleyball games. I totally improved my game during the camp and will definitely be coming back next year!

Good for all levels

I recommend attending this camp, because it's a very good experience for any skill level volleyball player. One can learn new strategies from the best, Virginia Tech's volleyball team and coaches. Not only is it about being a better volleyball player at this camp, but it's also about being a better volleyball team. One can get to know so many new people who share their passion for volleyball. It's an awesome experience for anyone who loves volleyball as much as the girls at this camp do.

Confidence boost

"I would suggest this camp to others, and I have as a matter of fact, because of the improvement I saw in my daughter after being at the camp. Not only has her serving improved but she is more confident on the court as well. As a parent I was impressed. She also told me that she was always safe and the girls were well looked after. She will definitely return to this camp."

Great overall experience

"My daughter has been at the Virginia Tech camp twice. She received more attention, more playing time and got more encouragment from the coaches than any other camp she has attended."
