Spend three exciting half-days at John Carroll University, where lacrosse and summer fun come together—then head home each day energized and motivated. Our 3-day camp gives players the opportunity to sharpen their skills, build confidence, and enjoy the game they love in a supportive, high-energy environment.

Led by John Carroll Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Joe Rautenstrauch, our experienced coaches and college players run dynamic drills, small-sided games, and team challenges focused on skill development, game strategy, and creative play. Each session is designed around high-quality instruction, purposeful repetitions, and competitive play that help campers improve quickly.

Campers take a short break halfway through the session to recharge before getting back on the field, ready to compete and learn more. Every minute on campus is centered on lacrosse and player development.

From learning new skills to competing alongside new teammates, each day is about getting better, playing hard, and having fun on the field.

    Joe Rautenstrauch enters his sixth season as the head coach of the John Carroll Men's Lacrosse program in the 2021-2022 school year.

    Career Accomplishments

    • 4 NCAA tournament appearances
    • 3 IMLCA All-Great Lakes Region selections
    • 1 IMLCA All-West Region honoree
    • 4 OAC Tournament Championships
    • 2 OAC Regular Season Championships
    • 3 OAC Defensive Players of the Year
    • 2 OAC Offensive Players of the Year
    • 36 All-OAC selections

    In his first five seasons as head coach, Rautenstrauch led the Blue Streaks to a combined 56-20 (29-5 OAC) record, earning four OAC Tournament Championships and four automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament.

    Rautenstrauch in the only coach in program history to earn a win during the NCAA Tournament. The first victory came when the Blue Streaks defeated Albion College 14-9 in 2017, while the other was in 2019 when John Carroll won in overtime against Hope College (7-6).

    Rautenstrauch came to John Carroll from his alma mater, Canisius College. A four-year letter winner for the Griff's ,he helped lead Canisius to the MAAC championship during his junior campaign. Post graduation, he was promoted to an assistant coaching role, where he focused on working with the faceoff units and the goaltenders. He also served as the defensive coordinator in 2016. In addition to coaching, Rautenstrauch spent one academic year as an adjunct professor at Canisius.

    At the middle school and high school level, Rautenstrauch was a head coach at the Buffalo Lacrosse Academy in 2015 and 2016. He also worked multiple summer lacrosse camps throughout the northeast and midwestern states. Camps included the Southern Ohio Shootout and the Ohio State Buckeye Battle.

    Outside of lacrosse, Rautenstrauch has been involved in multiple service organizations such as Team Impact!, Habitat for Humanity, and HEADstrong.

    Rautenstrauch earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Canisius in 2013. He then went on to obtain a masters degree in Sports Administration at his alma mater the following year, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors.

    Tim Edwards enters his sixth season as an assistant coach with John Carroll Men's Lacrosse for the 2025-26 school year.

    The Blue Streaks have won OAC Tournament Championships in four of his five seasons in University Heights. In his first season in 2021, Edwards helped to lead the Blue Streaks to a 14-2 record, along with the OAC Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance. In his second campaign, the Blue Streaks won another OAC Tournament Championship and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, defeating North Central in the opening round. In his third go-around, the Blue Streaks won the 2023 OAC Tournament title on the road and punched a ticket to the NCAA Tournament. In his fourth season, the Blue & Gold clinched a share of the OAC regular season crown before rolling to the OAC Tournament Championship and another NCAA Tournament. In his fifth campaign, the Blue Streaks notched a 9-8 overall record and made the OAC Semifinal.

    Edwards also plays professionally. He helped the Colorado Mammoth win the 2022 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Championship and steered the Mammoth to the 2023 NLL Finals. In the Professional Lacrosse League (PLL), Edwards played for the Cannons.

    Edwards was hired in December of 2020 to be an assistant for the men's lacrosse team. Edwards' lacrosse career has taken him around the country, as he was a member of the US Indoor National team, played in the MLL, and NLL. Edwards was also formerly an assistant coach at the Division I level of men's lacrosse.

    Edwards, a New Yorker, played college lacrosse at Canisius and was member of the Griffins squad that qualified for the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Edwards earned conference "Rookie of the Year" honors, and made his name commonplace on the MAAC's First-Team- an honor he recieved three times. Edwards was drafted to both the MLL and NLL and made his debuts for the Florida Launch and Buffalo Bandits in 2017.

    Since making his first appearance for the US Indoor National team in 2018, Edwards has participated in a number of major events such as the 2019 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. Edwards scored a goal for the Americans in their bronze medal game against England.

    Having played multiple positions, Edwards brings a unique aspect of being able to relate and coach multiple positions. Edwards last coached at Canisius before moving over to Carroll.

At Xcelerate Lacrosse Camps, we bring out the best in every player. Our coaching philosophy centers on confidence, creativity, and fun. Using innovative drills, small-sided games, position-specific training, and team competition, players sharpen their skills and elevate their understanding of the game. By week’s end, campers head home with improved fundamentals, a higher lacrosse IQ, new friendships, and a lasting love of the sport.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY
  • Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience.
  • Equipment Needed: Please bring your helmet, mouthpiece, cleats, lacrosse stick, gloves, and pads.
  • Facility: Don Shula Sports Center
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

DAY CAMPERS

  • Monday: Ages 10-13 (Youth/Middle School) - Check-in between 8:30am-9:00am. Pick up time is 12:00pm. Ages 14-18 (High School) - Check-in between 12:30pm-1:00pm. Pick up time is 4:00pm
  • Tuesday, Wednesday: Ages 10-13 (Youth/Middle School) - Check-in at 9:00am. Pick up time is 12:00pm. Ages 14-18 (High School) - Check-in at 1:00pm. Pick up time is 4:00pm
  • Daily Schedule: Youth/Middle School (9:00am to 12:00pm); High School (1:00pm-4:00pm)
  • Please Note: Bring Lunch and a filled Water Bottle to Camp each day - Lunch is NOT provided.

DAILY SCHEDULE

In both sessions, a great deal of instruction takes place in the early part of the session, demonstrations and instruction mid-session, and games to end the session. We also like to throw in a number of ‘fun’ activities throughout the week including our fastest shot contest and freestyle/skills competition.

PLAYER DIVISIONS

We have 3 Divisions in our Day Camps. Each division will have coaches providing instruction to campers that correlates with that particular grade and level of play.

Grade based on 2026-2027 academic year:

  • High School Division - Entering grades 9-12 in the Fall of 2026
  • Middle School Division - Entering grades 7-8 in the Fall of 2026
  • Youth Division - Entering grades 5-6 in the Fall of 2026

* At times we may have camps that are either smaller or larger in number which may lead us to adjust our divisions accordingly.

Campers have the opportunity to pre-order an Xcelerate Nike t-shirt in the camp registration process through May 1st. You will receive items purchased on the first day at camp check-in.

Early Bird Discount: $50 EARLY BIRD discount available until February 28th. The early bird discount cannot be combined with any other discount.

Team Discount: If five or more campers register together, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. After all team members have successfully registered, contact us at 800-645-3226 to receive a $25 refund per camper.
