Head to Tucson, Arizona, and improve your skills with Coach Markel Leonard in spring and summer 2025. This new camp hosted at Sahuaro High School is the perfect place to polish up on your game, learn new techniques, and become a leader. Find A Way Athletics, founded by Markel Leonard, is an educational and athletics organization whose mission is to invest in young people in an environment that allows for fun and growth as individuals and athletes. Find A Way Athletics promotes the mindset of always finding a way to succeed in sports and life. Through education, guidance, and empowerment, Find A Way Athletics aims to provide H.O.P.E (Helping Others Pursue Excellence) and add value to the lives of our players, parents, and communities on and off the basketball court.

The Complete Skills Camp helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position.

Co-Director Markel Leonard

Markel Leonard is a former Division I athlete at Cal Poly SLO and Division III collegiate athlete at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

Markel was a four-year varsity Basketball Player at Salesian High School, where he helped the Pride win 4 League titles, 3 North Coast Section Titles, 2 Northern California Championships, and 1 California State Championship. In 2012, Leonard was a key piece in Salesian’s national ranking as they were the #10 team in the country during their State Championship winning season in 2012.

At Cal Poly SLO, Markel was a part of the university’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in school history after winning the Big West Conference Championship in 2014. Leonard then went on to Play DIII Basketball at Lewis & Clark College. He forged the opportunity to Play professional Basketball to obtain his Master’s Degree in Sports Law & Business from Arizona State in 2019.

Since then, Leonard has worked for the NCAA in the Men’s Basketball Department planning the NCAA March Madness Basketball Tournament, The Los Angeles Rams Football Club, and currently is the Assistant Director of Sports Management & Championships at the Pac-12 Conference.
Co-Director Ryan Richardson

Ryan Richardson is a former professional basketball player who played in Europe and Canada.

He attended Weber State University for 4 years where he started over half his games. Ryan’s sophomore year he was a big part in them winning the big sky championship averaging over 15ppg in the conference tournament. Ryan finished his career at Weber as 4th all time in 3s made and 33rd all time in scoring and retaining all big sky honors his senior year.

Ryan played professional basketball in the Netherlands and Canada where he averaged 14ppg shooting 45% from 3 for his career.

Since retiring from basketball Ryan has trained and coached lots of high level talented guys. He has trained guys like Koa Peat, Adan Diggs, Adam Miller and Jordan Burkes, and many other professional basketball players.

Now He owns his own Training company called Ryan Rich Training where he developes and teaches the game to the next generation of hoopers.
Head Coach Jim Henry

Going into his 21st season, Jim Henry has coached basketball at Sahuaro for twenty years, where he was the Freshman Head Coach for 4 years, JV Head Coach for 3 years, and is looking forward to his 14th year as Varsity Head Coach.

Under Jim Henry, Sahuaro has three Elite 8 appearances and in 2024 finished as the State Runner Up, playing in the state title game. In 2018 and 2024 Coach Henry was named as Dick McConnell Southern Arizona High School Co-Coach of the Year and in 2023 and 2024 he was named the 4A Kino Coach of the Year.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions
Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours
Lunch: Lunch is not provided, please bring a sack lunch each day
Camp T-shirt: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Basketball Camps t-shirt. *1-day clinics and fall, winter, and spring clinics excluded
Basketballs: Basketballs are provided for instruction during camp

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director's discretion
Facility: Indoor courts
Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

BASKETBALLS

Nike All Court Elite Basketballs can be purchased during registration for $30. Players can choose between a size 6 (28.5", standard girls) or size 7 (29.5", standard boys) ball, which will be passed out on the last day of camp. Please note that it is not recommended to bring a basketball to camp as they are provided by the staff for camp instruction.

To view your customer account, complete your mandatory forms, pay balance dues, and review important camp information, visit Pre-Camp Checklist. All necessary camp information is on this page. If there are any imperative changes prior to camp start, registered campers will be notified via email and this webpage will be updated!

PACKING LIST

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment, and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

CAMPER EVALUATION

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. In addition, campers will be evaluated and then split up into smaller groups according to age and ability.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

COMPANY POLICIES

If you need to cancel for any reason up until 24 hours prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for tuition fees paid that is good through the following year for any sport and is transferable to any immediate family member. Participants who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows for any reason) or who do not contact USSC to cancel at least 24 hours prior to camp check-in will not receive a voucher or refund. Cash refunds are given only if Cancellation Protection was purchased at the time of registration and the cancellation is made before your balance due date.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided by the camp to or from any airports. If you are flying to or from camp, we recommend using an airport shuttle service. Please schedule flights as close as you can to the check-in times on the first day and check-out times on the last day.
