Since taking the reigns, she has led the Warriors 18-12-7 over the past two seasons, guiding the Warriors to an 8-7-3 record in 2024 and 10-5-4 in her first season in 2023.
In 2024, the Warriors fell just short of an NCAA Tournament bid, tying or winning each of their final seven matches. DeWan oversaw a pair of All-PSAC selections in Rebecca Kotula and Natalie Schooley, who each rank among the top-10 Warriors all-time in goals scored. Kotula became just the fifth Warrior to earn All-PSAC East First Team honors in three seasons, while Schooley was named to the second team for the second consecutive season. The dynamic duo accounted for more than half of the Warriors' goals (15 of 29) and over 40% of the team's points (31 of 76) in 2024. A total of six Warriors were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, including Kotula, Schooley, Emmy Clarkson, Moira Delaney, Maddie Lamb and Millie Smith. After a 3-0 start, the Warriors earned its first national ranking since 2019, checking in at No. 21 in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 poll.
In her first season at the helm of the Warriors, ESU posted a 10-5-4 record, reaching double-digit wins for the ninth time over the past 11 seasons ESU reached the PSAC quarterfinals, as a total of six Warriors earned All-PSAC East honors, with Rebecca Kotula earning first team honors for the second-straight season. Natalie Schooley, Brienn Seaman, Millie Smith, Caitlin Norwood and Nia Chinapoo all garnered All-PSAC East Second Team honors. Kotula becomes the first Warrior in program history to be named to the CSC Academic All-America First Team and is the first two-time Academic All-American in ESU women's soccer history.
As an assistant, Dewan has helped guide to an impressive 113-35-14 record over her the last eight seasons in the role - going 20-1-1 in 2014, 14-7-2 in 2015, 16-5-2 in 2016, 15-4-4 in 2017, 15-7-1 in 2018, 14-7 in 2019, 10-7-1 in 2021 and a 9-7-3 record in 2022. ESU reached the NCAA DII Tournament in six of the eight seasons with the help of DeWan. The Warriors became the first school in PSAC women's soccer history to win four straight conference titles from 2014-17, and they returned to the PSAC final in 2018. On the national stage, ESU won its first Atlantic Region championship in 2015 and finished as the regional runner-up two years later in 2017.
She helped guide the Warriors to a 9-7-3 record in 2022. The Warriors handed eventual national runner-up West Chester its first non-winning result, with a 1-1 draw in the regular-season finale. Three Warriors earned All-PSAC East recognition in Rebecca Kotual (1st Team), Brienn Seaman (1st) and Teagan Marshall (2nd). Kotula was also named to the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region First Team after tying for second in the conference in goals with led the PSAC East with 23 total points.
In 2021, Haley Skove, Mirthe Bos and Mauri Jackson were selected to All-PSAC East squads. In addition to GK Jackson's all-conference honor, she was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Team. ESU posted a winning season for the 10th consecutive season, totaling a record of 10-7-1 and 8-7-1 against PSAC East competition. In hopes of making a late run into the PSAC Tournament, ESU closed the 2021 season strong with wins in five of its final six contests and outscored the opposition, 11-1, in that span. Skove became the second player under Berkowitz and fifth Warrior overall to be named to the all-conference team during all four seasons.
In 2019, the Warriors went 14-7 overall (12-4 PSAC) and earned the No. 3 seed in the PSAC East. They posted a dramatic overtime win against Millersville in the PSAC Quarterfinals before falling at Slippery Rock in the Semifinals. Despite the setback in the conference tournament, ESU earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Five Warriors earned PSAC East All-Conference honors, and Melissa Herrera was named the PSAC East Freshman of the Year, becoming the third player in program history to garner the award. Haley Skove earned United Soccer Coaches All-American honors, D2CCA All-Atlantic Region honors, and she was joined by Syd Hicks in earning United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors. Monica Wood became the fourth CoSIDA Academic All-America selection in program history, and Lynsy Gruwell was honored as the PSAC Women's Soccer Champion Scholar, marking the fourth-straight year an ESU player has received the accolade.
ESU entered the PSAC tournament as the No. 7 seed in 2018, but upset nationally-ranked Kutztown (2-0) and Millersville (3-2, 2OT) before ultimately dropping a tight 2-1 decision at Bloomsburg in the conference final. ESU topped Millersville again the following weekend to open up the DII tournament, winning its fifth game on the national stage in as many years.
Four players earned All-PSAC status, three were named United Soccer Coaches All-Region, and senior Nicole Abbott became the third CoSIDA Academic All-America selection in program history. Abbott and her twin sister, Carly, were also recognized as co-PSAC Champion Scholars.
The 2017 squad captured its record-setting fourth straight PSAC championship, and reached the Atlantic Region final for the second time in three years, this time finishing runner-up to West Chester.
The 2016 team won its third straight PSAC title with a 2-1 win vs. Kutztown. In the NCAA DII Tournament, the Warriors upended Notre Dame (Ohio) 2-0 in the first round before falling 2-1 at West Chester in the second round.
The 2015 team, which qualified for the PSAC Tournament on the final weekend of the regular season with a 4-2 win vs. unbeaten and No. 1-ranked Gannon, went 5-1-1 in its seven postseason games. ESU won the PSAC title with a 2-1 (OT) win vs. Edinboro, and then edged the Fighting Scots 2-0 for the regional title two weeks later.
The Warriors were ranked No. 9 in the final NSCAA DII poll, the highest in school history.
In 2014, the ESU won the PSAC title and its first-ever PSAC regular season title. ESU went 20-1-1, winning a school-record 20 consecutive games, and were ranked as high as No. 2 in Division II. ESU was ranked No. 14 in the final NSCAA DII poll following the NCAA Tournament.
ESU was the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Region and hosted an NCAA Tournament game for the first time. The Warriors set or tied 12 program records, including: wins (20), winning percentage (.932), winning streak (20), unbeaten streak (21), consecutive PSAC wins (15), consecutive home wins (11), consecutive away wins (9), shutouts (13), goals against (11), consecutive shutouts (5), consecutive PSAC shutouts (5) and scoreless streak (470:53, longest since at least 2003).
ESU has had individual success as well, with 30 United Soccer Coaches All-Region selections in the last nine years. Midfielder Haley Skove and back Syd Hicks were named in 2019; Forward Alex Pickett, Skove, and back Hannah Saggese in 2019; Pickett, Skove, midfielder Sammi Ortiz, Saggese and goalkeeper Jules Harris in 2017; Pickett, midfielder Shea Neal, Ortiz, back Hannah Gombos, and Harris in 2016; Neal, back Laurel Neira, Ortiz and Harris in 2015; Neal, Neira, back Lexie Peveraro and forward Courtney Keller in 2014; Neal and back Michelle Gogolen in 2013; Gogolen, back Carly Collins and midfielder Cree Julian in 2012; and Collins and Julian in 2011.
A 2007 graduate of Seton Hall University, DeWan was a four-year member of the women’s soccer program who earned BIG EAST honors and led the Pirates in assists and points as a junior. She played for two seasons in Iceland and also coached local club teams while living in Reykjavik, including assisting with the U-14 Icelandic National Team training camp in 2008.
Her collegiate coaching experience includes two seasons on the coaching staff at St. John’s University as a graduate assistant in 2008 and 2009, which made the semifinals of the Big East tournament and played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
She was previously an assistant coach at Rutgers-Newark, served as the assistant varsity coach and junior varsity head coach at Secaucus High School in 2007 and has coached with the Brentwood Soccer Club on Long Island and World Class Soccer Club in northern New Jersey for several seasons. She was also on staff with the Region 1 Olympic Development program in both 2009 and 2010.
DeWan holds a bachelor’s degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences with minors in Criminal Justice and Communications from Seton Hall and a Master’s degree in Sport Management Coaching and Leadership from St. John’s.
She holds several coaching credentials, including an Advanced National Coaching License, USSF certification, and positive coaching alliance affiliation.
